Quick Quotes
Q. You just played the last five holes in 3-under to win on your Walker Cup debut.
LIAM NOLAN: Yeah, that feels really special. It was a bit ropey out there, a few birdies and mixed bogeys on the first 13 holes. Austin missed a putt to win the hole on 13, and I kind of just went like, right, this is where you have to go for everything, and you get this game back.
I birdied 14 and 15 and hit a lovely tee shot up the last, as well. Absolutely delighted to get the win.
Q. What did it feel like as you had (indiscernible) on 14 and 15?
LIAM NOLAN: I went a bit crazy on 15. I had all my friends and family kind of lined up behind the hole and made about a 12-footer up the hole, and I just gave it a big fist bump and tried to really shift the momentum as much as I could.
Then again, just the last hole, my caddie gave me a great line and told me to hit the low and it'll chase rather than trying to fly it all the way there. Yeah, I'm just glad I could get a point for Great Britain & Ireland.
Q. You and all the guys have had some incredible support out here today.
LIAM NOLAN: Yeah, yeah, the home crowd is such an advantage. I mean, from early this morning, we had massive roars until the evening, and they stay with you on every hole and really cheer you on in good times and in bad, and that's when you need them the most, I suppose.
Q. Was it everything you imagined you would be? You didn't get to play this morning, so you had the whole afternoon to wait for it.
LIAM NOLAN: Yeah, I played a few holes this morning in support of the guys, but I was just walking around. I was just always buzzing to get out there.
I was very nervous on the first hole. I made a really bad bogey.
But then as soon as that happened, all the nerves just kind of left, and I settled into it. It's absolutely everything I hoped it would be. The most special golf venue you can ask for and an amazing Walker Cup debut.
Q. How did you recover after that bogey on the 1st? Like you say, it was a bit of a sloppy start.
LIAM NOLAN: Yeah, I don't really know. I hit an average iron into the next hole, into the 2nd, and I had about a 50-footer, and I just got a really good pace on that, lagged it up to gimme range, and that really settled the nerves then.
I kind of eased into it then with a birdie on 3 to get back all square and on from there.
Q. You must be ready to go for tomorrow now?
LIAM NOLAN: Oh, get me out tomorrow. I will not be able to sleep tonight. I cannot wait to get out there again tomorrow.
