Quick Quotes
Q. All right, Megan, what a day for you. How are you feeling after this moving day here in Canada?
MEGAN KHANG: Honestly relieved that the day is over. You know, going into today I had a one-shot lead and obviously Linn is a great player. It was kind of like you look at the leaderboard and you know who is behind you and you try to ignore it as much as you can, but it's kind of scary.
I kind of told Jack today, hey, let's do our best to try to stay in our own little world and take it one shot at a time. Just kind of keep playing like we have been in this week.
Q. A few birds out there on the front nine. What was working well for you to get that round started the way you wanted?
MEGAN KHANG: Honestly, I was hitting it really good today. You know, it's always good when the ball striking is there. I hit some pretty good shots to about 15 feet the first few holes; couldn't hole them.
Jack just kind of reassured me out there. Like, hey, you're putting good strokes on it. They'll drop soon.
Made a good up and down on 4 and was able to kind of keep the momentum going and make some short putts coming down for par, too.
Q. Yeah. Not only that, but just what did it mean to have the three straight birdies on the back nine after the bogeys you had?
MEGAN KHANG: It was huge. I mean, with I want to say 13 being reachable, I had a feeling like a lot of people, a lot of the longer hitters were going to be able to get to that green, possibly make eagle, if not birdie or par.
And I just wanted to give myself a chance up there. I knew where the pin was it was gettable. Yeah, I mean, that kind of started it all. I had to hit some really good shots going in; missed few good putts.
Again, stroking it well and just made sure that I wasn't getting too frustrated with missing putts.
Q. A lot of players might have those two bogeys, look at the leaderboard and say, you know -- not give up, but just one of those times where it's hard to feel that kind of pump back up. Did you feel like you had to pump yourself back up at all?
MEGAN KHANG: Honestly, I bogeyed 12. I birdie putt on 11 and I bogeyed 12 and then just like that I look at the leaderboard and I hear a roar on 13. Not knowing who it is I take a peek at the leaderboard and I see Sei Young's name up at the top and I'm like, oh, here we go.
But at the end of the day you can't control what everyone else is doing. I was trying my best to stay in my on little world because it's hard out there and you can't really lose focus for a second.
Q. You're playing some of I think the best golf of your career this year. What do you draw on going into tomorrow?
MEGAN KHANG: Honestly, it's a lot of like learning over the past few years to stay patient, don't get you ahead of myself. I told Jack before the round, hey, I feel like I'm a little anxious right now and I really need you to be there for me.
I might not talk as much. Shocker for most people who don't know me. No, at the end of the day, you know, I know Jack is there for me and I've obviously trying to do my best and he knows that.
So he's there to remind me that like, hey, let's not try so hard and just play our game.
Q. Seeing your name at the top of the leaderboard always feels good I feel like for you. But what does it mean for all the culmination and all the hard work you've been putting in to get to that moment? What does the next 12 hours look like for you?
MEGAN KHANG: I'm being blatantly honest, the next 12 hours looks like food and sleep and a coffee in the morning. I've been trying to keep it really routine. Today it was kind of hard having a 2:50 tee time knowing that you have like a one-shot lead.
But at the end of the day I'm just going to try my best to keep that same mindset, stay patient. These fairways are tight and the greens are firm and really just kind of trust myself out there.
Q. Interesting. I know it's obviously individual stroke play, but I would be remiss to not mention playing with Linn after Solheim is on the line. How cool that was to have that European v. USA flair?
MEGAN KHANG: It was a lot of fun. I don't know what led to this, but in my head I was like, oh, this is nice little prep for Solheim. Funny enough that it is us two who are on the team -- I know she's on her team. I know I clinched it.
So it's little fun games that I try keep myself entertained out there. It's not a ton, but obviously it's not the huge focus. But, again, it's nice to have a little game with myself.
