Quick Quotes
Q. Okay, take me through your round today, some of the highlights out there and how you managed Castlerock so well.
MARISSA STEEN: Yeah, I told my caddie before we started just to stay patient today with how windy it was going to be. This course is so exposed being so close to the water, so it was really all I was trying to do was stay patient.
That was it. That was really my only thought.
Q. You posted the best round out of Galgorm yesterday. How much confidence in your game did that gave you coming into today?
MARISSA STEEN: Yeah, it was huge. Galgorm is a lot different challenge than this course with it being parkland, and the wind out there is harder to judge because with more trees, like it just swirls more. Again, it's just a little harder to tell what it's doing.
Out here where it's so exposed it was just more trusting that I had the right club and I had accounted for the wind properly.
Q. With it being a different challenge, what adjustments did you make mentally or in your game be prepared for today?
MARISSA STEEN: Yeah, I didn't really make any oh adjustments. I think both golf courses pose different challenges, again, like I said, just staying patient. The weather here is very fickle and we can't control that, right, so just doing my best, take each shot as it comes, and hit it to the best of my ability.
Q. Going back to Galgorm tomorrow and through the weekend. How much confidence did it give to you post a really good first round? What are you going to take from that first round into the weekend?
MARISSA STEEN: Yeah, I think it's a huge confidence booster. When I played here two years ago I didn't play well at Galgorm, so definitely feel a lot more comfortable going around that golf course this time.
Q. Last question: Seeing your name at the top of the leaderboard, how gratifying is that for you after your season so far?
MARISSA STEEN: Yeah, it's been good. I feel like I've put some good weeks together so far. My game feels really close. I was bummed to not make the AIG last week, but I had some good time to just work on my golf game.
It feels good to see that paying off this week as well. I feel like my game has been pretty solid. Maybe not put it all together at exactly the right time, but, yeah, things feel good.
