Q. Take me through how excited you were going through Monday qualifying and your performance today?
GINA KIM: Yeah, just even having the chance to be here is already amazing to me. This is my first AIG Women's Open's experience.
I was already grateful to be in the field to begin with. I actually had to go to a friend's wedding and take a red-eye flight, play half a practise round and just wing it out there for the Monday qualifier. The fact that I'm even standing here is surreal to me.
Left a couple shots out there today. My game was good. I thought everything was solid. It's just a couple misreads, a couple silly mistakes, but you know, the good part is there's so many, so we'll see how it goes.
Q. Just take me through where some of the changes might be tomorrow.
GINA KIM: Yeah, I mean, obviously yesterday was my first look at the course, so there was some club selections where I was like, oh, you know, I didn't realise how this hole played. Tomorrow I'm going to make some changes. So like No. 10, for example, I just bombed a drive without really thinking much, and it kind of hurt me a little bit there. So you know, I'm going to be a little more deliberate and hopefully a better score can come out.
Q. Did you end up in the heather on 10 or were you in the heather at all?
GINA KIM: No, I wasn't. I was actually in the fairway. I hit it really well. It's just that I was so close and it was downwind, and there was no way I could stop the ball with such an awkward yardage and where the pin was, so I kind of went over the green.
Q. The few bogeys that you had, were they putts that just didn't drop?
GINA KIM: Yeah, 17 was just bad speed control. Everything else was fine. It was a great shot in. No. 18, I just went into the heather.
So I had a good look at par, but obviously it didn't go in, so got to go work on my putting a little bit.
Q. Key takeaways that you'll take into tomorrow and what will you learn, no matter what happens?
GINA KIM: It's a major venue. Obviously people are nervous. People want to do well. The conditions themselves, it's pretty tough. I mean, we got a lot of wind out there that wasn't originally in the forecast, so it was a bit difficult to adjust to it but you know, I think some of the key takeaways that I can take is just being patient. I think that's the best thing I can do for myself and just enjoy the week.
