THE MODERATOR: Let's welcome Harold Varner III from RangeGoats GC. You shot 7-under 65, bogey-free round. Tell us a little bit about your round.

HAROLD VARNER III: I love bogey-free rounds. I didn't know that. I love this place. I didn't talk much about it the other day because I was about 30 minutes late. Yeah, it was good.

But where is the team? We've got to beat the s--- out of the Aces.

THE MODERATOR: You guys are -- RangeGoats are T2 and 4 Aces are in sixth place.

HAROLD VARNER III: Yeah, so we need a little help, and we need to win. It's an integral part of winning is playing well, so I'm just trying to play well and help the team as much as possible, and 7-unders will do that.

THE MODERATOR: Every time you get up here you mention the 4 Aces --

HAROLD VARNER III: They piss me off.

THE MODERATOR: That's a thorn in your side?

HAROLD VARNER III: Yeah, there's a lot of other stuff, but I just think we're the best team, and if you're the best team, I like to perform.

It's good to know you're the best team because it's easier to play. If the best team just does what they're supposed to do, you're going to have the best chance, and right now we're the best team, and we're not winning. So what is it? So it's fun to -- we've just got to finish.

Q. You actually lead the clubhouse in the lowest score at LIV with a 61. The course record here is 59. Do you think that's attainable for you this week?

HAROLD VARNER III: I think you shoot 59 by not saying that. But deep down inside, that would be awesome. I had a really good chance in Tulsa, and I totally barfed on myself.

Yeah, it's nerve-racking, but it's why you play. I don't know. I really don't know. My job is to hit more fairways.

Q. How many eagles can we expect out of you this week?

HAROLD VARNER III: That was good. 17 was good. That was awesome. I like making eagles, and I'm super fortunate to make a lot of them right now, so enjoy it while it's happening.

Q. Did you feel like this is a course that suits your game?

HAROLD VARNER III: Yes, it does. I've played well here. It's the first 54-hole lead I had when I was on Tour. I like it here. It's close to home. My boys are here. I think they're having more fun than I am.

It's good. It's just the first day, so we've got to finish. We've got to go -- if you've noticed, we've started off really well this year and all right, cool, we finished third or we finished on the podium. That's good and all, but not when you're the best team.

Q. When you had that three-birdie streak early, how much does that accelerate the rest of your round? Gets you off to a very good start.

HAROLD VARNER III: Obviously, correct, it does, but I don't think much of it. I'm just trying to birdie the next hole or maybe not bogey the next hole. I don't really think much of it. You could tell the scores were going to be low because I think I was like 2-under and I was in like 20th place, and I was like, this is not good.

Yeah, I was super fortunate to roll in a few putts. It seemed that the closer I hit it, the more I missed putts, but it is what it is.

Q. What is your favorite non-golf activity at Greenbrier?

HAROLD VARNER III: The ATVs for sure. I just don't have enough clothes to ride in them.

I picked up tennis, which is stupid, but it's so fun. I'm getting whooped. One of my friends is really good. He's here. So yeah, it'll be good.

Q. I know Bubba used to play here in some other golf events. He used to have a house here. Did he help you out with the course, where to hit some shots? Did that contribute to your round at all today?

HAROLD VARNER III: No, I had played here three times. It's golf. He helps me out in a lot of other things.

We've been beefing pretty hard lately, so I think it's good for our team. I want to see that guy play well, and I think he has a lot going on, a lot on his plate, and the way you get those things off your plate is just play good golf, and everything else will take care of itself, and I've been riding him pretty hard about that. So no.

Q. I know you're one of the biggest 4 Aces fans there are. On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you like this Aces hat I got from the merch tent?

HAROLD VARNER III: You already asked the question. I was thinking about burning it. No, I hate the Aces. I like the people. We have a great camaraderie.

But like I said, we're the best team on paper, and I think we should be winning, and the people that are beating us, they've helped me out a lot, we've had some great matches, and I just don't want to lose to them again.

You must like the Aces, too. You're a little top ringer, all riding with the top dog. When those RangeGoats win, I'm going to bust that ass. I'm going to talk s---.

Q. Are you going to Zac Brown tonight?

HAROLD VARNER III: I am. I'm going for sure. I'm taking a crew with me, and we're going to have a great time.
