Q. Talk about the feelings you had on 18 and rolling in the birdie.

MATTHEW JORDAN: It was just the perfect finish to what has been the most unbelievable week. Just rolling that in, I just so wanted to knock it in just for everyone who's supported me, just to go mental one last time and crazy. They stuck with me even in the rain like this.

Just to be able to do it for them and have that kind of ultimate feeling, as it were, to birdie the last at my home course at The Open is just brilliant.

Q. You've had the spotlight on you all week really but you've obviously thrived on it.

MATTHEW JORDAN: Yeah, I do. I tend to find that when there is a bit of pressure involved in the best events that I do tend to do quite well. So I know I can, but obviously this was a completely new experience really in terms of the pressure from the support and the course and everything like that.

So yeah, I think that's probably the most proud I've been about myself is the way I've performed under all that.

Q. How much confidence will this week give you now in terms of knowing that you can compete at this level?

MATTHEW JORDAN: Of course. Of course. I mean, if I bring myself back even to last week I was doing okay, and then I had a shocking last round. You have rounds like that and you feel like, God, why have I been this poor and stuff like that.

But in terms of this, I know I can do it. It's just results are the biggest confidence boost, aren't they?

Yeah, this will bring a lot of confidence with it, and hopefully I can carry it on.

Q. When you hit the drive down the left on the 18th there was rain, and it looked like you were walking down (indiscernible) is that right?

MATTHEW JORDAN: Yeah, I was, because I had to hop over the railings but it was slippy, and I thought the last thing I want to do right now after everything is just to roll my ankle or something. I ended up just walking down 150 yards.

Q. It looked like a lovely scene, like you were just out with your mates, and here you are in the 151th Open with the eyes of the world on you. Were you sort of feeling that?

MATTHEW JORDAN: Yeah, I guess it was. I guess I knew a few people walking alongside me and they had stuck with me and we were having a joke about the shot or what have you.

Yeah, it kind of brought me out of the pressure mode, talking to them. And then once I got back in I was like, hang on, I've still got to hit a shot here.

Q. Was that your dad --

MATTHEW JORDAN: Yeah, I saw him. I thought, he's been out all day in the rain. I best give him a hug. It's the least I can do. Yeah, he was there and he was obviously extremely proud.

Q. Whenever anybody starts playing golf you envisage the last day of the Open walking down the 18th. Was there just a moment when you thought, is this really happening? Do you know what I mean?

MATTHEW JORDAN: Yeah, that's why I was so proud about my finish yesterday, because I wanted to put myself in the last few groups to experience that, and then I knew it was coming. You can never expect what's going to happen or how you're going to feel.

But I was just so glad to give myself that chance, and then as you say, walking down, and it's incredible because the grandstand is so big, as you move along, more and more people just keep -- it lasts like a minute and two minutes and you can't stop smiling.

You're like, okay -- it's brilliant, but I don't know if I'm worth this much applause.

Q. What's your dad's name?

MATTHEW JORDAN: Andrew Jordan.

Q. As far as golf experiences are concerned, how does this compare for you?

MATTHEW JORDAN: Oh, this has been the best. This has hands down been the best. I think I even probably said that after the first round. It's just been that good.

I mean, it obviously helps when you're playing so well, but just the way everything has kind of come together and how the week has gone in terms of I had the first tee shot, doing that on the last.

As a whole, apart from winning it, I can't imagine it being much better.

Q. Is there any other location you would dream to play at more than playing in an Open here?

MATTHEW JORDAN: No. No. This has been the best. I was lucky enough to play it at St Andrews, which I love. I think that place is brilliant. But in terms of this for me and all the sentiments involved, this is the one.

Q. You're going to finish top 10, as well, which means you get in automatically for next year so you get to try another Open.

MATTHEW JORDAN: Yeah, of course. I've heard Troon is brilliant, so let's hope so. It didn't really cross my mind. I didn't know about it. I didn't know exactly what my finish was, which again, is just another thing, holing that putt on the last is just a massive bonus.

Q. What can this do for your career going forward this week?

MATTHEW JORDAN: Yeah, who knows. I think first and foremost, to be able to play and perform under kind of the pressure that I felt all week, like I haven't felt like calm or normal really the whole time, which is great because it lets me focus and it kind of makes every shot mean something.

I think for me, certainly performing under the pressure, I think that's the biggest takeaway that I'll have from it, and as I say, who knows what this will do.

I know I can do well. I know I can perform like I have or even better than this. It's just doing it, and that's what I did this week.

Q. Feel like you want to double down and work harder?

MATTHEW JORDAN: Yeah, of course. Of course. For me it's just being able to perform like this consistently, and if I do that, then I'll work my way up and hopefully start reaching kind of the PGA TOUR card so I can balance all the best events, which is great, and get in more majors and get in all of them and just building my way up really. That's how I see it, and hopefully it's just a start or it helps towards doing that first and foremost.

Q. Do you know when you'll play here next?

MATTHEW JORDAN: I don't know. My girlfriend's dad and her sister's fiance, they wanted to play here the week after The Open, so I think I'm playing here Saturday with them.

But I haven't even thought of that, how weird it's going to be just going around just as practice because I'm probably going to remember everything I've done beforehand.

Yeah, it's going to be a strange feeling.

Q. Are you going to give them any shots?

MATTHEW JORDAN: I think I'll have to now. (Laughter.)

I think they won't be happy because they don't play too regularly. So that'll just be more fun, which I think is probably what I'll need for the next week.

Q. You said at the qualifier that you'd seen Hoylake in all setups and all conditions, but if this hadn't been Sunday of The Open would you have been out here playing in this?

MATTHEW JORDAN: In the morning, I would have checked the weather and gone down in the morning, but I think once lunchtime hit, I thought anyone who's out there, what an idiot.

No, Chris did a great, unbelievable job for me staying dry because it was horrid, and if you did stay out there for a bit you just got soaked as you'll probably know.

No, to answer your question, I don't think I would have been out in this.
