Quick Quotes
Q. A solid round of golf to get yourself into position going into tomorrow. You're an Open Champion and you've played a lot of links golf. What is the one thing when you're out there that you really have to focus on that allows you to play well?
SHANE LOWRY: I don't really know if there's any one thing. It's obviously a different form of golf and different to what a lot of people are used to.
Living over in the States, it even takes like me like a while to get back playing here. And I felt Thursday I was a bit rusty with it all, and I hit some really weird shots that I would never hit in a links tournament.
So I'm playing my way nicely into the week. I had two nice rounds the last two rounds, and yeah, I'm in a nice position going into tomorrow. We have got some strong winds tomorrow, so it will be interesting to to see what happens.
Q. This golf course is in good shape, you had some different winds each day. Has the golf course itself changed at all?
SHANE LOWRY: You know, it's the weather, like the wind is up-and-down and switching a little bit. Doesn't really know what it wants to do. This golf course, it's very gettable when the wind is down a little bit when it's not too windy. Even today there's a bit of a breeze blowing but there's a lot of chances out there if you play well.
If you start hitting it off-line and missing fairways, obviously it gets a bit tricky. It's a perfect week before The Open next week, and hopefully I can go out tomorrow and play good again and bring some good stuff into The Open.
Q. Not the best ending, but nevertheless a solid 5-under round for you and 10-under for the tournament. How do you reflect on that?
SHANE LOWRY: Yeah I'm pretty happy with where I sit going into tomorrow. It's going to be some strong winds. It's going to be tough scoring tomorrow. I knew I needed to go out today and shoot a good score to put myself in position. Obviously we all know who is at the top of the leaderboard, so it's not going to be easy.
But I'll give it a go tomorrow and see what happens.
Q. How proud are you of how you've progressed this week? A slow start but you've gotten yourself into this tournament?
SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, a very slow start. Didn't play great on Thursday, and just found something in the middle of the round yesterday and got it going. It was nice. I've been rolling a few putts in which is always nice. Some lovely stuff over the last few days, and you know, plenty of confidence builders to take into The Open next week.
But obviously first and foremost tomorrow, I'd love to go out and give myself a chance to win this tournament. It's obviously a huge tournament for us in Europe and one that I would love to add my name to.
Yeah, just go out and take on the wind and see what happens and try and shoot the best score I can.
