Quick Quotes
Q. Well played, 7-under for the day. How impressed are you with your morning's work?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, very happy. Got off to a fast start which is important if you're going to have a low one but just to gain some momentum on a Saturday. Xander was playing great. Kept it going. I played well all day and then sort of slowed down a little bit.
But those last three holes, which are tough holes, really, 7, 8, 9, good to get on the right side of those three holes and finish strong.
Q. How did the course conditions dictate how you played? Was it full attack mode for you?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Just play the golf course. Go out there and play your game and see what happens. I drove it well. Put it in the fairway a lot. Any time -- the times I was out of position off the tee, it's difficult to score.
I did think that when I was putting the pins in, I thought the pins were trickier today, which I still think a lot of them are, but that just adds to the importance of hitting the fairway and giving yourself a chance with the irons.
Holed a couple of nice putts. Overall just go out there and play and see what score you get and just happened to get a low one.
Q. Tomorrow in the mix, tough day weather-wise, high, gusty winds. Is that something you're excited about, or is that the challenge you have to mentally get prepared for?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: We'll see where we finish at the end of the day. The leaders still have quite a few holes to play. See the conditions we get over the next hour or two.
Of course I'm excited about being somewhere near contention and have a chance tomorrow. I'd like to not get too far away and see what the conditions bring. If it's rough, it's rough. If it's nice, that will do, too. You have to play it no matter what. But I'm happy after the first sort of 26 holes of the tournament to be in this position, I'm very pleased with it.
