Q. I suspect as Scottish Open debuts go, that's pretty successful?

DAVIS RILEY: Yeah, it was a nice day. Got off to a really nice start on the front, and yeah, saw some putts ball. Just tried to keep it rolling. Yeah, it was a really good day.

Q. That momentum you found was pretty key out there as well?

DAVIS RILEY: Yeah, started making some putts. I went on a string of four birdies, I think it was 3 through 6 or 7. Caught a little fire in there and just tried to ride it out and tried to on the hard holes make stress-free pars, and I felt like I did that.

Q. How much are you enjoying adapting to links golf?

DAVIS RILEY: Me and my caddie were talking about it. It's so much fun. It's so much different than playing golf in the States. I think it's just so much fun, flighting shots, maneuvering it with the wind and playing slopes, it's a lot different and a part of the game that I really enjoy.

Q. Takes a lot of imagination, as well?

DAVIS RILEY: It does. As firm as it gets, you can utilise some slopes. That's the best part about it is there's a million a different ways to hit the shot right in front of you and that's what's so fun about it. That part today, I enjoyed, and I think that was a big part of the reason I played well.

Q. First time playing The Scottish Open. How are you enjoying the Scottish hospitality?

DAVIS RILEY: It's been a while. I played the Junior Ryder Cup in 2014 at Blairgowrie, and so it's been a long while since I've been back. It's so much fun.

The people over are great, the golf course is amazing and the people are fun to be around.

Q. Start of a pretty big two weeks making your Open debut next week. Is this key preparation for that?

DAVIS RILEY: Yeah, for sure. I heard a lot of good things about the Scottish Open and that it's good prep for next week.

Yeah, that was a big reason why I played, and I'm excited for this two-week stretch.
