Press Conference
A. SABALENKA/M. Keys
6-2, 6-4
THE MODERATOR: Welcome to the press conference for Madison Keys.
Madison, tough day today. Give us your thoughts.
MADISON KEYS: Obviously a very tough day. I mean, I think Aryna played really well. I had chances in the second set and didn't capitalize on them. Sometimes that's how things go.
Overall still a really good tournament for me.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Despite the loss, you've had a positive grass season. Can you talk about the impact that working with Bjorn has had on that? What has he brought to your team, especially compared to the previous coaches?
MADISON KEYS: Yeah, he's obviously been very beneficial. We've had a really great few weeks.
Here, I mean, he's really just kind of helped me enjoy being on the tennis court. There's been just some, I mean, a few things here and there.
Overall just really time on court, just kind of trying to get me to relax and take a little bit of pressure off of myself. I think when you have one of your biggest supporters standing there, especially after the French Open, a tough time for me, just kind of having that constant support I think was the biggest difference.
Q. How did you decide to begin this informal coaching over the grass season? Are you going to continue it?
MADISON KEYS: He's actually been injured, so he wasn't playing himself. I did the clay court season by myself. Just when I got home asked if he would be willing to help me on the grass.
He wants to play. He obviously would want to play this summer in the U.S. We'll see how he is. That's kind of all that we have. We don't really have any sort of plan.
Q. Looking ahead, where do you see your season going after a successful Wimbledon? Are you looking forward to the U.S. hard court swing now?
MADISON KEYS: I'm always looking forward to the U.S. hard court swing. I've had a lot of success there. It's some of my favorite tournaments. I really enjoy playing that part of the season. Really looking forward to it.
I mean, I think if I can just kind of keep up the hard work and continue to do what I did to build coming into this grass court season, I think that there's plenty of opportunity.
