MIKE WHAN: Pebble Beach, you are magnificent. If there is a better place to watch golf history being made, I've never been there. Thank you, Pebble Beach.

To Heidi Ueberroth, David Stivers, John Sawin and everybody from the Pebble Beach crowd, the staff, the leadership, the committee members, you're the best of the best. You set a high standard mark and we're so proud to be your partner. Thank you.

To the over 2,500 volunteers and over 500 volunteers on a waiting list to try to be a volunteer, thank you. We literally couldn't hold championships without you. If you volunteered this week, know that this was your championship, not just ours.

Last year after 127 years, the USGA began a new tradition, one that recognized commitment, expertise and collaboration to get these incredible gems, these golf courses ready for championship play.

This week we might have met the best in class, so we're going to give the EJ Marshall Platter to your head superintendent and his entire staff, Bubba Wright and the people from Pebble Beach. You guys should be proud. I know you're tired, but you should be proud.

Last month we started the new tradition recognizing that it takes a team effort to raise a trophy like that. Yes, one player is hitting the shots, but somebody walks with them every step of the way to get to this level.

I'm going to introduce you to the 2023 U.S. Women's Open caddie award winner, and I'm not making this name up: Jay Monahan.

Now to recognize our low amateur and our 2023 champion, help me welcome to the microphone USGA president Fred Perpall.

FRED PERPALL: Thank you, Mike. Wow! This year's U.S. Women's Open field included 28 amateurs, four who made the cut. With a score of 296, the silver medal for the low amateur goes to Benedetta Moresco of Italy. Congratulations.

Now it is my honor to welcome the champion of the 78th United States Women's Open. With a score of 279, the Mickey Wright Gold Medal for the winner of the 78th U.S. Women's Open goes to Allisen Corpuz of Kapolei, Hawai'i.

We are thrilled to present the historic Harton S. Semple Trophy given annually to the champion of the U.S. Women's Open.

Q. Allisen, women have dreamed about competing and winning a U.S. Women's Open here at Pebble Beach. You have just achieved that dream. Describe this moment.

BAILEY TARDY: I mean, unreal. This week has just felt like a dream come true. It's been really awesome to be out at Pebble this week.

Q. You teed off, of course, in the final pairing today and got off to a hot start. What was the strategy? What was the game plan, and how did you keep your composure across these links on championship Sunday?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, every few holes I just kind of looked out and said, I'm out here at Pebble Beach. There's not many places that are better than this. Really just tried to stay grounded and keep playing my game.

Q. Speaking of Pebble Beach, you grew up in Hawai'i. You spoke to me earlier in the week about how these views remind you a little bit of home and indeed So Cal. How comfortable did you feel here this week?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: I love it. I hope I get a chance to come back.

Q. I think you will. Let's talk a little bit about your season and how well you've been playing in major championships this year. You shared the 54-hole lead of course at the Chevron Championship, another good finish just a couple of weeks ago, as well. How much confidence did you take from those performances that you were able to pull on today?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, my coach told me this morning, no one is going to give it to you, and I think I've just played a little conservatively in the past, and just really went out there and told myself I had the game to do it today.

Q. You also said earlier in the week you need to get more comfortable being in contention. Were you comfortable today?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: A little nervous at times, but pretty comfortable.

Q. I think your parents are here. Do you have anything you'd like to say to them? I'm sure they're very proud watching you right now.

ALLISEN CORPUZ: Just a big thank you. My dad especially traveled all the way from Hawai'i, and my mom has been traveling with me ever since I've been on Tour. I'm so grateful for their support, and I'm so happy that I could get this win for them.

Q. You pick up the biggest first-place check in women's championship golf. How long will it take this to sink in, and how might you celebrate?

ALLISEN CORPUZ: I'm not sure yet, but hopefully a really good dinner tonight, and yeah, just take it as it goes.
