Flash Interview
Q. Hae Ran Ryu, even par 72; 3-under for the championship. How challenging were the conditions this afternoon, and was the course different than yesterday?
HAE RAN RYU: Yesterday I played in the morning so I did not feel the wind as much.
But this afternoon I really felt the wind, so that was more challenging for sure.
Q. Did you have to play different shots to the wind than you would've yesterday?
HAE RAN RYU: No, I did not have a different shots but I tried to read the wind as much as I could.
Q. You bogeyed 14 and 15 and came back and birdied 1 and 2 to get back to even. Tell us how you did that.
HAE RAN RYU: I think in the beginning when I did the bogey, had some issue with the swing so I missed the shots. But it was difficult and it ended in bunker as well.
But after two bogeys, No. 1 and 2 holes, I was able to recover and I was able to recover.
Q. On 7 you left the putt just short for birdie. Did you think you made it when you hit the putt?
HAE RAN RYU: I was able to see lie very well so I thought that I could make a birdie, but it got cold all of a sudden and my hands got cold and I could not really accurately measure the distance.
Q. Do you like your position going into Saturday's play? You're only four strokes behind the leader.
HAE RAN RYU: I'm very satisfied. I'm very, very happy that I'm doing such a good job in U.S. Open. Yes, I'm very looking forward to round three and four and happy to play in Pebble Beach.
Q. When you're four behind and going into third round, do you change your strategy at all? Are you going to play the same way you have been playing the first two days?
HAE RAN RYU: I noticed that the course here does not really guarantee good shots even if I play even aggressively, so I think that I'll do my best like the way I did in the rounds one and two.
Then I think I'll have a good shot.
Q. Have you ever played a course like Pebble Beach in your life or anything similar to it?
HAE RAN RYU: Well, no. This is my very first chance to play at the LPGA major tournament and I think that this will be a wonderful story to tell to everybody.
Q. What would it mean if you were to win a championship like the U.S. Open, and how would you be viewed in your country?
HAE RAN RYU: Well, it's something that I have not really imagined, this future. I think I'll just being feeling like dreaming. I know that Se Ri Pak won and so many other Korean golfers won.
Since I was little I just watched them and said it would be look my dream come true if I win.
