C. GARCIA/L. Fernandez
3-6, 6-4, 7-6
THE MODERATOR: If you could just give us your thoughts on today's match, if you would.
CAROLINE GARCIA: Yeah, it was a big battle obviously. We had a couple of tough matches already this year.
Today was kind of the same, even closer. Super happy with the win. Yeah, Leylah is a tough opponent, for sure.
THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.
Q. You really seem to have really found your feet on grass. Looks like you're playing really well on this surface. Why is it so difficult for some players and others seem to be able to master it?
CAROLINE GARCIA: I would not say I found my rhythm. I mean, I just won 7-6 in the third. I could be crying probably under the shower right now. That mean how close it was.
But obviously, I mean, I play aggressive game, so may look like grass court should suits more that kind of player. I try to use my rhythm, my timing. And with the time and the year of experience, I find I just meant a little bit better.
It's also, when you come on grass court, you have one month of a new chapter, a new season. Doesn't really matter how you played before. Grass court is starting. Doesn't really matter how you played. It's hard court afterwards. So just try to be in that mindset.
Q. What are some of the main differences and challenges of playing on the grass?
CAROLINE GARCIA: It's harder to defend. You can have some bad bounces, weird things happening at any time. So you have to try to be more positive and really sometimes let things pass.
You can be perfectly in the point and just messed up with your timing or whatever. Yeah, there is not too many rallies so it's hard to find some rhythm.
