BROOKS KOEPKA: Five birdies and an eagle, one bogey.

THE MODERATOR: Tell us a little bit about your day.

BROOKS KOEPKA: Rough start. Made bogey there at the first but then kind of rebounded and built off that. It could have been a lot lower.

I played really well. Missed a couple putts. Good putts, just misreads. 6-under out here is pretty good. Tough golf course.

Q. It's pretty stacked at the top of the leaderboard. What do you have to do tomorrow to take it home?

BROOKS KOEPKA: Probably play the same way I did today. That would be nice, another 6-under. Just keep doing what I'm doing. Everything I'm doing is pretty solid. Been playing really solid golf for a while now, and just happy with it.

Q. (On what he worked on).

BROOKS KOEPKA: Just re-solidifying everything that I need to do, working on just fundamentals. That's it. Just felt like I was just slightly off yesterday, and just went there and just grinded and figure it out.

Q. (On the quality of the golf course.)

BROOKS KOEPKA: I don't know if it's major championship. I like it because you've got to think your way around it the whole entire way, from the tee box to the green you've just really got to position yourself in the right spot. There's sometimes you could be hole high and really not have a chance and you could chip it right off the green very easily.

Just a difficult golf course. That's what I like. I like difficult golf courses. Tree-lined, and just really got to, like I said, position your ball in the right spot.

Q. (On his birdie on 17.)

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, it was nice after making bogey. I felt like an idiot after making bogey on 16. I don't know, I can't figure that hole out. I haven't hit a good tee shot in the practice rounds or the tournaments. Hoping for a better one tomorrow.

It's a difficult hole. You put some of these -- you could be four yards out of your intended line here and then be really, really blocked out or in some serious trouble. It's a good golf course.

Q. Those windows that you've got to hit, were they easier today just because there was very little wind and the golf course seemed to be playing a lot easier today?

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, I definitely thought it was a little easier. I think the golf course is easier with this wind direction than it is yesterday's. But I was hitting it solid, striking it the way I wanted to and hit a lot of good putts and chipped it pretty good when I did miss the green, and missed it on the right side. I think that's the best thing out here, if you miss it on the proper side, you'll be fine.

Q. Is that what you're going to work on on the range?

BROOKS KOEPKA: I'm not going to the range today. I'm good.
