Quick Quotes
TAKASHI KANEMOTO: I'm very happy today. Very good round.
Q. How do you go from a plus-11 to a minus-4 today?
TAKASHI KANEMOTO: That's my golf. I play really good. The next day I play really bad. That happens in my golf.
After the round yesterday I was at the driving range practicing, and my caddie, Brian, told me I was I swinging a little bit too quick. And I saw Ernie Els practicing, and Ernie's swing is very relaxed. So just managed to be a little bit more slower, and that worked today.
Q. Let's talk about that fast start you had on the back nine. You had numerous birdies to start out. How did that feel?
TAKASHI KANEMOTO: Well, first of all, I was thinking of making the cut from 11-over. To tell the truth, the back nine, actually, I don't like some holes because of the water. So I was a bit nervous, but I managed to go through that with birdies.
Q. Very good. What was your favorite birdie out of those five?
TAKASHI KANEMOTO: No. 15. It's a long par 4. Hit a driver to the fairway and then a 9-iron to about like 12.
That was a good one.
Q. Is this one of the best rounds you've ever played in competitive golf?
TAKASHI KANEMOTO: To shoot a score like this in a U.S. Senior Open, probably best of my life.
Q. Well, you'll sleep well tonight after shooting a round like this.
TAKASHI KANEMOTO: Okay. Not tired at all. I'm still excited.
Q. How proud are you to make the cut to play on the weekend?
TAKASHI KANEMOTO: I probably won't go to sleep because I'm too excited, but I'm going to try to sleep.
Q. Do you think your friends at home are paying attention? And what would they say about what you did today?
TAKASHI KANEMOTO: Messages are coming in. I'm going to be busy looking at my phone, looking for the messages.
