Q. You must be delighted to be here and given how fragile you were, and to start like that, must be even better?

YANNIK PAUL: Yeah, last week, obviously I really wanted to play last week, the home event. I was really disappointed and sad, but yeah, I couldn't play at all and didn't really get much better.

I got a lot of treatment and stuff, got a tiny bit better and I flew here on Tuesday morning thinking 20, 30 percent chance that I can tee up.

But yeah, I got some good treatment. My physio is here this week, and yeah, also big thank you to Artur last week, he helped me a lot. Got better the last couple days and now with some medication and some treatment, it was doable. I would say not a hundred per cent, but sometimes expectations are not as high and you're just happy to be here. You just deal with stuff a bit better. So that's what I felt like.

Q. Just something that just triggered?

YANNIK PAUL: Yeah, a bunch of traveling and I felt it last week, even when I arrived in Munich and then it got better Tuesday, Wednesday and I thought better, see what we find.

Obviously played the Pro-Am on Wednesday and on Thursday morning I woke up and I literally walked like this. I could barely stand up.

Q. Even on Saturday?

YANNIK PAUL: Yeah, it didn't really get much better, and yeah, I couldn't really sit. I couldn't really stand.

So that was probably the worst I've been. So I didn't know what to expect or how long it will take, so I'm just happy to be able to play here.
