Q. Talk about what you'll bring to the Pelicans.

JORDAN HAWKINS: You're going to get the best shooter in the draft, championship player, a guy that can space the floor out for Zion and BI.

Q. I saw you outside kind of celebrating. I think I heard was it your cousin Angel (Reese) on the phone?

JORDAN HAWKINS: Yeah.

Q. What did she say to you?

JORDAN HAWKINS: She's in Baton Rouge. She was really happy for me. She was giving me congratulations. So it's pretty cool we're going to be in the same state.

Q. Did you work out for New Orleans and did you have a feeling they might pick you?

JORDAN HAWKINS: Yeah, I did work out with them. It was one of my better workouts. I had no clue really where I was going to go. A couple of the teams passed up on me that I worked out for, but they took the chance on me.

Q. Can you walk me through your emotions of hearing your name called and being with your family and getting up there? What are you going through right now?

JORDAN HAWKINS: A whole bunch of emotions. I told somebody I wasn't going to cry, but I wimped out. It was a really cool experience.

Q. What was the first thing Coach Hurley said to you when you got picked, and what has he really meant to you?

JORDAN HAWKINS: He's meant everything to me. Just said he loved me. I love that guy to death. Without him, none of this is possible. He helped me so much through my career, the two years I was with him. I'm really grateful for him.

Q. How cool is it to get in the lottery and get your banner up on the wall there?

JORDAN HAWKINS: They're going to have to see my face every single day. That's going to be lovely.

Q. I know you said you have family in Baton Rouge, but how familiar are you with the city? Have you been to New Orleans?

JORDAN HAWKINS: I was there for one of my workouts. I was only there for two days, but it's an amazing city. I heard the food is really, really good.

Q. Did you get a chance to go to any jazz clubs?

JORDAN HAWKINS: I didn't get the chance to. I was kind of sick when I was up there, too. I didn't leave my hotel room. I'm probably going to gain a couple of pounds because of the food. So that will be a good thing.
