Q. Allisen, just one of the few that have been able to finish under par. What have been some of the keys to getting there?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, hit the ball really solid and then made a few really good putts coming in. Was really just trying to stay patient out there and kind of take what I could get from the course.
Q. You went off 1, correct? Can you speak to the difficulty of that opening stretch and how as a player you just try to get through there?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, definitely. The first hole is just a beast. I hit a really good drive and hit had a hybrid in, and then second hole was playing a little easier but I still made bogey. Then the third hole, I think they actually moved us up a bit just because it was playing so long. Luckily I had a birdie there and kind of got my round started over there.
Q. What did you hit in at 3?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: I had a 6-iron. I can't remember, I think it was like 155 and then a little into the wind.
Q. Do you tell yourself how tough that's going to be, you just have to be patient because you'll get your chances later?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, I think bogeying the first hole is never an ideal start, but just kind of telling myself, like there's still 17 more holes, and it's just a tough course. I just stayed patient.
Q. I know it's kind of been tough this year getting four rounds together, but how have you managed to stay patient and get yourself prepared for this major stretch that we're in?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, I think every time I start getting a little impatient, just go back to the same things that I've been working on, really just focusing on the same swing thoughts that I've been working on, and kind of telling myself, like the game is there, I just need to show up and go play.
Q. What was your preparation like for this kind of a golf course? I don't feel like we see this style of golf very often out here.
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Definitely a lot more practice on the longer end of my bag, like drivers, woods, long irons, just knowing it's a bigger course this week, and obviously always just working on my short game. Rough is pretty thick this week, and then the putter.
Q. What was your strategy the last two holes?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, 17 is a pretty solid three-shot par-5, so just tried to get a good birdie look there, and then hit a really, really good drive on 18, so had a chance to go for it. I hit a really good 3-wood in and then two-putted for birdie.
Q. Can you talk about how the moisture might have added to how difficult this place already is and what that did for you today?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, actually it didn't -- the fairways weren't super soft. Everything drained pretty well. But I think especially starting out with like a light drizzle, just everything played a little longer to start with.
Q. Not a lot of birdies out there for players today, and you found five. What was your highlight out there, birdie-wise?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Made a really good birdie on 7 and 8 to kind of close out the front nine and get it to under par. Just made two pretty solid 10-footers on both of those holes.
Q. Did you have a chance to get home at 7?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: No, I hit my drive in the rough, laid up.
Q. What do you appreciate the most about this test, and are you a person that likes tough exams?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, I mean, I love it. I know I'll be drained by the end of the week, but I think it's just really awesome to play such a historic venue and just have a really tough test out there and kind of see how my game stacks up.
