Quick Quotes
Q. Through to the quarterfinals here at the Women's Amateur Championship. You must be very happy with how you're going so far.
INGRID LINDBLAD: Yeah, I have been just trying to keep the ball in play and hit the fairway, hit the greens. I would say I played better in the morning than in the afternoon, but it was enough to get through.
Q. What was the difference between the morning and the afternoon?
INGRID LINDBLAD: I just overall played better. Like I was a little closer to the pin, I was more center of the fairway. In the afternoon I was kind of a little bit more, like it's working, but it isn't as goods as in the morning.
Q. This afternoon you played Cayetana Poggio, who was the other highest ranked player alongside you, so a really tough matchup. Did you feel that as well?
INGRID LINDBLAD: Yeah, I mean, we both on the front nine it was like she won a hole, I won a hole and then she won a hole. So it was kind of back and forth. And then I felt like I had some more control of it on the back. I hit it close on 12 and didn't have to even hit the putt. So it was just, it's just a touch better, like if I would have had a worse bounce on some holes, like it could have gone the other way.
Q. Is having such a tough matchup where it's tit for tat? Is that something that's enjoyable for you to be playing a tough opponent or is it more stressful?
INGRID LINDBLAD: A little bit of both. Like you want to play someone who obviously like deserves to be there and she did. We both played well. It was fun, because you don't know who is going to win this hole because we both won a hole. It's not like one is like superior over the other one of the so it's fun.
Q. The Swedish girls, you had a lot of players here this week and you've got three players through to the quarterfinals. What is it about Swedish golf at the moment that just you're all dominating?
INGRID LINDBLAD: I'm not sure, but, I mean, seems to be working well this week with the links and everything. I think we just have a good national team and a good community around the national team. That helps a lot.
Q. Is it the ice cream?
INGRID LINDBLAD: You know, there is actually ice cream tonight, because Kajsa made seven birdies in her first round and I made six. So, I mean, we don't usually do that, but, yeah, the ice cream is great. Maybe this week it's a part of it.
Q. You mentioned the six birdies that you had in your first match. Your opponent had seven birdies. So that was, between the two of you you were playing exceptional golf?
INGRID LINDBLAD: Yeah, we did. It was like if one of us was off like someone still managed to make a birdie, which was that was pretty incredible. We both, especially on the front I feel like we both hit a few close and we both made the putts. Then she definitely made more longer putts than I did. But it was fun because I was like, I don't know how this is going to go because she makes everything. But that's also fun because it's a good match.
Q. We're getting closer to the business end of this championship. Do you start to think about what's on offer for the champion, the chance to play in major championships like the AIG Women's Open?
INGRID LINDBLAD: I haven't really gone that far. I'm just trying to take one match at a time and then we'll see what happens.
Q. So what's your natural shot shape?
INGRID LINDBLAD: I want to say a draw.
Q. Favorite club?
INGRID LINDBLAD: 54 degree.
Q. Your favorite yardage for wedges?
INGRID LINDBLAD: Probably 90 meters. Like a 54.
Q. The biggest strength of your game?
INGRID LINDBLAD: Probably that I hit it far. So have some shorter clubs in.
Q. Where is your miss? Left or right?
INGRID LINDBLAD: I feel like any right-handed player like thin right or long left.
