Q. Welcome to Prince's Golf Club here in England for the Women's Amateur Championship. What are you thinking of the course?

NISHNA PATEL: The course is playing well. It wasn't very windy in the front nine but back nine wind started to pick up. The greens were rolling well. It was good

Q. Is this your first time playing links golf?

NISHNA PATEL: No, I played this event last year, so yeah.

Q. Is links golf different to the kind of golf courses that you're used to playing?

NISHNA PATEL: Yeah, definitely. It's completely different. Last year was a good experience for me since it was my first time, so yeah, looking forward to the experience.

Q. What's most different about the two types of golf?

NISHNA PATEL: I think it's the grass in general and obviously no trees here, so it's a lot windier.

Q. So were you looking forward to returning to the Women's Amateur Championship after last year?

NISHNA PATEL: Yes, I was, and I'm looking forward to playing different links courses as much as I can, because we don't get to play that.

Q. Tell us about your round today. How did you go out there?

NISHNA PATEL: It was fine. I started off quite decent. A couple of putts, I couldn't convert many putts, so I think just working on that and then hopefully tomorrow they fall in.

Q. Talk to us about a highlight of your round. What worked really well for you today?

NISHNA PATEL: I think my driving was really well. I hit almost all the fairways, so I was quite happy with that.

Q. You had a couple of birdies out there, so can you talk us through those holes?

NISHNA PATEL: Yeah, I had like two of them, the birdie putts, I didn't drop many, but I think the nice one was on the 13th hole. I had a good approach, which was around four or five feet. So yeah, that was a good one.

Q. And what about the birdie at the second?

NISHNA PATEL: The birdie at the second, I was two on the green on a par 5, so that helped me, I could just 2-putt.

Q. What clubs, what yardages?

NISHNA PATEL: I had a driver on the first shot and then second was about 195 to 200, and it was playing downwind, so I took a 5-iron and I was almost, I think 18 feet. Just missed my eagle by an inch, but okay.

Q. This championship, obviously it attracts the best amateur golfers in the world. What's it like to be playing in a field with so many other great, talented golfers?

NISHNA PATEL: It's nice. It feels good playing with the best in the world, and getting to learn from them and just it was fun, yeah.
