Quick Quotes
Q. First round of stroke play finished here at the Women's Amateur Championship. How are you feeling?
INGRID LINDBLAD: You know, I haven't played links golf since last summer. So it's something you definitely have to get used to, and today, like off the tee, I didn't play with enough margins, and then into the greens is kind of either too much margin or like not enough.
And I'm shooting plus one, one birdie, two bogeys, which isn't terrible but just wish there was some more birdies out there but it's playing tough.
Q. As you said, it's playing tough, especially for you on your back nine, the wind really picked up. Can you talk to us a little bit about that?
INGRID LINDBLAD: Yeah, so yesterday in the practise round, there was barely no wind, especially in the morning when we played. So it was kind of a different course today. On the back nine, there were a few holes where like I should have hit another club off the tee, so that put me in trouble. But I still managed to make up-and-down or make pars.
And whenever it's into, you've just got to like commit to the shot and just hit it and trust it.
Q. These championships are obviously all about the match play, but you need to make it there to begin with. What is the mentality when you come into these two rounds of stroke play?
INGRID LINDBLAD: Well, especially when it's windy, just keep the ball in play. I did that all day but I attacked a little more whenever I could. Just, you know, take it one hole at a time, and if you happen to screw up, just make a few birdies. Got to trust the wind.
Q. This is your first Women's Amateur Championship as No. 1 and you played a professional event last week, but what does it mean to you to be the world No. 1?
INGRID LINDBLAD: It's very cool. I've been No. 2 for a couple of years, so I wanted to play and get that spot. But Rose turning pro, I'm happy for her but I'm excited to have that spot now.
Q. Rose turning pro, it was a remarkable debut, seeing someone your age playing so well so quickly, does that really inspire you, too?
INGRID LINDBLAD: Yeah, same with the Swedes out there on tour. Whenever you're ready for that, just go out there and dare to win it, just play well.
Q. Do you feel any different coming into a championship having the No. 1 next to your name?
INGRID LINDBLAD: I got that question a lot last week, too. Not really. I'm still the same person, and not thinking too much about being No. 2 and not too much about being No. 1, and just taking it one day at a time.
