SARAH SCHMELZEL: ...was a pretty solid day on the greens. Made a lot of birdies to start off with and kind of get into a rhythm, and then on the back nine started to make some par putts on some of the trickier holes.

Overall it was just pretty steady. I didn't really let anything get away from a me, so it was exciting to see some of the hard work from this prep and weeks prior kind of starting to pay off a little bit?

Q. Yeah, and your best round so far this year. How does that feel for all the hard work to be paying off?

SARAH SCHMELZEL: Yeah, good. It's been a weird year so far, just some stuff going on, and so it's nice to kind of push through and see a result.

I feel like I've been kind of piecing some things together recently and just haven't gotten a score at the end of it, so it's nice to get one today.

Q. How important is it in a format like this, 54 holes with scoring conditions being optimal, to get off to a fast start?

SARAH SCHMELZEL: Yeah, definitely, because there is not much wind today. There is not wind today and usually there is out here, so you knew this morning there would be a bunch of birdies made.

So nice to get off to a good start and put yourself in the mix. Not really behind the eight ball right now.

And it's good to see that you can go out and make birdies and do that again tomorrow and the next day.

So it was nice.

Q. And then headed into tomorrow, what's kind of your mindset?

SARAH SCHMELZEL: You know, just one shot at a time. I've been working on being really present this year, not getting too far a ahead of myself, leaving things in the past, not staying there.

So same thing. I mean, results come, and we'll see what happens.
