Q. History maker, how does it feel to be the first-ever winner of the G4D Open?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: It's been unbelievable. It hasn't really sunk in yet. I've put so much hard work into my game the last few months, and it's been trending really well. I just couldn't get it over the line last year, so it's been a while since I've been in the winner's circle, and I'm proud of myself just to get it done. Really happy.
Q. Tough start with the bogeys but you recovered.
BRENDAN LAWLOR: Yeah, I started off with three bogeys on the spin, and I steadied up. I didn't hit it well all day. I made a lot of clutch putts on the front nine. Holed a good few putts.
The back nine was much the same. I started to hit it a wee bit healthier. Hit driver well. I was two behind at one stage, and Kipp just dropped a few. It's just an unbelievable feeling.
Q. Was it like a match-play contest in the end?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: I didn't treat it like that. I just wanted to go out and do my own thing but it did kind of turn into that way. There was one shot that I played the last hole and it was exciting for everyone. It's such a good buzz.
Q. And you got a nice call there from somebody, I believe?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: Yeah, Niall (Horan). He's supported from day one. I'm with the guys four years, Modest Golf, and for a disability golfer, they treat me never different than anyone else. I'm proud to be a part of that team, and hopefully we can get more wins.
Q. Just lastly, sum up the week for us.
BRENDAN LAWLOR: It's been incredible. The volunteers, the R&A, DP World, everybody involved has put in Trojan work to get this event done, and I can't imagine how much money it costs, as well. For every player here, we felt like royalty this week. Hopefully this is the start and we're going to have many more of these major events. Disability golf is definitely on the way up.
