Georgia Hall

The Woodlands, Texas, USA

The Club at Carlton Woods

Quick Quotes

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, a little bit tough today and yesterday. Some putts wasn't quite dropping for me. I birdied the last two holes to finish level today, so try and have a low one tomorrow and finish up as high as possible.

I always like to play in an event before a major, every single time pretty much. It just makes me feel more comfortable and feel like I'm in more of a rhythm, so that was always kind of the way I planned my schedule out. I tend to play a little bit more at the start of the year, simply to get going for the season, and obviously the weather is not that great in England to practice. Then when the weather gets a bit better in the second half of the year, I then take a couple more weeks off then.

I just kind of plan it what's best for me, and it seems to be working so far.

I think it's just like the year or two off, just a lot of hard work, and I done a lot of club testing over the off-season, so I didn't take as many off weeks as maybe I wanted to. I had a few club changes to do and make sure that I had the right equipment in my bag, and I think I've got some really solid clubs that I'm very confident with now. So I think it's a combination of both and just good putting, I think, especially this year.

I think when I was last in the world top 10, because I won the Women's Open my rookie year, it's kind of not a true value of my World Ranking, as I didn't have many points, so my average went up quite high. Now I've obviously been on the LPGA for five or six years. I think this is a really true ranking on my performance. I'm just really excited for the rest of the year, and just excited for the next run of events really.

I think that as tradition and just the area, I really do miss Palm Springs, but I think that this course is definitely harder, and I think it's more suited for a major. There are some tough holes out here, and I think everyone is really enjoying it. Just got to make new traditions here.

I think it's a great golf course and area to have our first women's major of the year.

Well, they're very quick, downhill especially, very, very tough, and the pins today were hung like two or three from the left and right of the green. There's quite a little bit of grain on them, as well, which is sometimes tricky to read when it's not too strong, it's very subtle, so you definitely have to put the ball in the right parts of the green to leave yourself an uphill putt.

Obviously last week the greens were just very different, so you have to adjust perfectly.

I think 5 and 15 are definitely ones you just want to have a par and run away as quick as possible. They're tough. They're very tough tee shots. It's all in the tee shot really. But then on 15 you have to hit over water, and I've seen where the pin is tomorrow, so they've definitely got some surprises for us tomorrow. But I think there's some holes out here where you just want to safely get a par, but it's easier said than done.

I have a great job, so who wouldn't want to do this.

Q. You started off with not your ideal hole, but how proud are you that you bounced back and finished so strong?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, it's just a really silly shot that I hit. Sometimes actually I have some of my best rounds from starting bad, so sometimes it doesn't always go that way.

Yeah, actually those last two holes on the first day to shoot 2-under, I thought, okay, let's do it again, and I was really happy with that. I keep going better on the leaderboard as we speak, so I think try and get top 10, top 15 for sure tomorrow, and then just carry on.

Q. Was the course playing a lot harder today?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, I think the pins were the hardest so far this week, and also the wind. I think it's the windiest it's been. They've got up quite strong quite a few times out there, and it's tough to judge it with the gusts in between the trees. Sometimes you're hidden. But I think the pins are also very tricky tomorrow, but I'm excited; this is a major. It's what it should be.

Q. Someone else was saying the 16th; do you reckon it was the approach shot they were talking about?

GEORGIA HALL: I think 16 is okay. It all depends on what you feel as a player. But 15 for sure is water everywhere. I mean, it is tough.
