Quick Quotes
Q. Really great round from you today. Just overall you play really well in majors. What is it about major championships that you like so much?
AMY YANG: I mean, like every players do, major is one of my biggest goal to play well. Golf courses play really tough every major, and that makes me focus more, I think. I just enjoy being out here.
Q. What's so tough about this golf course that you like?
AMY YANG: It's playing long, and it's tough, and the grass, the grainy grass makes it even difficult.
Q. Lots of birdies out there for you. What were some of the highlight birdies that you remember from today?
AMY YANG: I mean, they were all good birdies. Like every one of them was a solid shot, and putting was -- I felt like everything was in sync out there today. It just gave me good momentum throughout the round.
Q. You've had 19 top 10s in majors coming into this --
AMY YANG: Oh, I didn't even count.
Q. Has it been hard to be so close so consistently and yet not break through yet?
AMY YANG: Yes, it is. You know, I'm out here to win a major, and getting close a lot of times and not being able to get one is just mentally tough.
But not much I can do except just do my best each day.
Q. What would it mean to you to finally break through?
AMY YANG: I don't know. It's been so many tries, long years. I don't know. I'm just going to not think about it. I'll get out here tomorrow, do my best each shot, each hole, enjoy out here. That's my goal.
Q. You have a smiley face on your visor there. Is that a sponsor or a decision you made on your own?
AMY YANG: My own. I just want to put something cute on it.
Q. When did you come up with that idea?
AMY YANG: I don't know, smile, it just gives me positive energy, and even for me who see me also can -- I hope they can smile, too.
Q. How long have you worn it for?
AMY YANG: Just this year.
Q. Did you put it on your hat?
AMY YANG: Mm-hmm.
Q. You sewed it on?
AMY YANG: Custom made, yeah.
Q. This is not an easy golf course, but today was it a combination of the course kind of receptive today for low scores and the fact that you were playing well, was this a good combination for that?
AMY YANG: I don't know, it's more like my game felt easier out there. Like everything felt in sync, and every shot was pretty solid. I didn't think the course was easy, but my game felt easy out there.
Q. Just talk about what was working. I guess everything had to be working for you to shoot that number.
AMY YANG: Yes, it is. Yeah. Unlike the first two days, my driver shot was very solid out there. Good solid shots gives me a lot of chances to hit it close, and putting working well together. It's just easier to shoot under par.
Q. Did you hit one shot that really stood out today, anything like really close to the hole?
AMY YANG: Oh, yes, one hole. It was the par-3, No. -- what was the first par-3 we get?
Q. First par-3 is 3.
AMY YANG: Yes, that hole. I hit my driver into the right bunker. I had to lay up with 6-iron, and I had 6-iron in my hand, and the pin was all the right back tucked right side into the wind, and I had to hit another 6-iron off the first cut, and I hit it like three feet.
