Q. Ayaka, can you tell us what your mentality was sort of like heading into the first major of the year.

AYAKA FURUE: I just focused on always not trying to be too into, like, I'm playing a major, just always I'm playing normal tournaments.

Q. Does it feel like a little different than a normal tournament, though, and is this course a little harder than what you would find at a normal tournament?

AYAKA FURUE: Yes, the grasses around the green is really tough, so I really need to focus on my approaches, and some of the holes are long, so yes, I feel some parts are very difficult.

Q. Was it extra difficult with a lot of rain and the rain delay, too?

AYAKA FURUE: When the ball is getting wet, it's really hard to put the spin on the ball, so that made, yes, a couple of difficult shots for me.

Q. Lots of birdies, though, for you still. What was sort of the best birdie you had today, and how did you manage to get all of those?

AYAKA FURUE: On the birdie on 11 that I got, the second shot was around 188, and I was able to put it on with a one-meter putt, so that was a great hole for me.
