Quick Quotes
Q. You had 25 holes today. Would that best be described as a grind?
RYAN FOX: It was tough out there although I guess a couple people in front of me didn't make it look too tough this afternoon.
Obviously I'm definitely down on energy levels the last couple of days, and I could definitely feel pretty tired the last few holes.
Yeah, I'm pretty chuffed with how I played for the most part. I'd like a couple of swings back today, but for the most part, it was pretty solid.
Q. That front nine, a double and a bogey really. 8 and 9 were good, a couple of birdies.
RYAN FOX: I felt like I hit a lot of really good shots, had a few chances and kind of didn't take them. Then was indecisive on 3, laid up, and thought I had a really good second shot, hit that tree. I kind of ended up where I didn't want to be with driver. In hindsight, I probably should have just hit driver and taken 6 out of play.
I'd like the one back on 11 as well. That was the worst shot of the week. Rest of it was pretty solid.
Q. Slowed the momentum a bit after 8 and 9.
RYAN FOX: I felt like I was hitting it really solid at that point. I was kind of in between clubs and thought I'd draw a 9-iron and hit it really hard and get it to the middle of the green. It was just an awful shot really.
Q. Leave the awful shots, we'll get to 16. I asked you that the other day, same question again, how did that look from where you were standing on the tee box?
RYAN FOX: We couldn't really see it. It was in the shadow there. Obviously by the reaction we could tell it was really, really close. That's such a hard shot there today. I had 6 out originally. Taylor had 6 out in my group.
Then all of a sudden the one switched and went kind of down. He hit 7 over the green. I'm going this is interesting. Thought I'm going to chip 7 and keep it low. Hopefully nothing touches it. I hit the shot I needed to hit. It's always nice when I can putt them in backhanded for birdies. They're the easy ones to make.
Q. A lot of New Zealanders sitting here this morning and obviously around Augusta National today, very proud of your promise over the week. How do you reflect on your debut at the Masters?
RYAN FOX: If you'd have given me even-par at the start of the week and play four rounds, I would have been pretty dang happy. I feel like I left a little bit out there. I think this golf course, the more you play it, the more you figure it out. I definitely hit some wrong shots out there.
No matter how much you practice to some of these pins, when you actually see them, it's very different. So, yeah, hopefully I get another crack at it in the next few years and can learn from this experience. Regardless, it's been an awesome one.
