Quick Quotes
Q. I know that last one stings, but just the flow of what to expect with pending weather coming along and having to come out and finish the second round.
PATRICK REED: Played completely different, that's for sure. I don't remember the last time it was I hit a solid drive off of 18 and sitting there with hybrid not knowing if it was going to be enough from the fairway with not really much wind.
Yeah, the last one's going to sting because I felt like I made a good golf swing. I had mud on the right side of it, so expecting it to kind of go a little left and also being on an upslope and the ball wants to go left anyways, and I decided to hit it dead straight hybrid somehow.
We saw it bounce. It looked like it was just left of the bunker, saw it kick to the right. Couldn't tell if it was in the bunker or if it was over the bunker. Got up there, and it was in the trap.
It's just the golf course is obviously going to play a lot longer. It's going to be longer. If it rains more, greens are going to slow down. You have to judge whether the ball is going to skip or just kind of plop. It's just going to be a guessing game when you're out there. You have to kind of know what you want to do, where you want to leave the ball.
Q. Not what anyone wants to see when you walk around this piece of property, but do you feel like you got the most you could out of the first two rounds knowing what's on the way?
PATRICK REED: No, I left a lot out there. I felt like I left a lot out there on the first day, and even in the second round earlier yesterday, I mean, I missed a couple short putts. Just left shots out there that you just can't leave out there. Because of that, I got myself a pretty big hole to try to go catch Koepka.
Q. Could you estimate like off the tee how many yards difference it is?
PATRICK REED: Who knows? I hit a drive yesterday that clipped a tree on 17 and hit 8-iron into the green, and today I hit a drive. I hit it really solid, was kind of fading a little bit, ended up past the tree I hit yesterday. I roasted a 6-iron today and was front part of the green, and it was all in the back.
I only hit two tee shots. I hit that one and 18. Yesterday I didn't hit a good one off of 18. Well, the first day I didn't hit a good one off of 18. So it's hard to tell.
Only thing I know is usually with no real wind that bunker on left on 18, if you hit a draw, it comes close, and today I hit it and it wasn't even near it. I mean, I had to make sure that the sprinkler head was still in my book, the one that I had to step off from when I saw the number on it.
Yeah, it's just going to play long. It's going to play long. It's going to play different. It's going to take a lot of patience this afternoon, especially if the weather comes in. You've got to go out there and attack on the holes you can. On the holes that are playing difficult, try and settle for par and just eliminate the mental mistakes and unforced errors.
Q. Did the tournament give you any guidance about what to expect this afternoon at all?
PATRICK REED: Playing golf. As long as there's no thunder, we're going to be playing.
Q. What's the winning score going to be?
PATRICK REED: Who knows? You never know. You don't know how much golf we're going to get this afternoon and how much the rain's going to come. It's hard to really tell. We're only 36 holes in.
Q. Were you around the trees when they fell?
PATRICK REED: I was on 15 tee.
Q. What was your experience?
PATRICK REED: It was nuts. I hit the tee shot literally right after I was watching my ball in the air. It sounded like a grandstand fell over or something. We couldn't tell. You could hear it all the way on 15 tee.
