Quick Quotes
Q. Weekend of golf coming up at the Masters?
RYAN FOX: Yeah, I'm pretty happy, pretty relieved to be honest. I woke up this morning feeling pretty awful, fluey with a cough and achy joints and stuff like that. To not do too much damage today was nice.
Hopefully get a bit of time to rest now and feel a bit better tomorrow.
Q. You were out there with your coach, Marcus. (Indiscernible) creative once you got into some tight spots?
RYAN FOX: Yeah, definitely. I got lucky a couple times where I did hit it in the crap. I managed to have some shots and actually hit some really good shots from trouble. Fooch, Billy Horschel's caddie, said to me through five holes, he said, that's the best 1-under stretch of golf around Augusta he's seen for a while, so I'll definitely take that as a compliment.
Q. Second nine, would you say your rhythm game back off the tee, the drives were hitting the fairways nicely?
RYAN FOX: Yeah, I definitely started to play a little better. I had a couple of scrappy ones on the back nine, but probably had a couple more that I could have made birdie on, but as I said, I was kind of fighting it a little bit, sort of the energy levels and everything like that. I was just trying to get in without doing too much damage.
Q. No damage through Amen Corner, had a good putt on 11, save on 12, and came through 13 unscathed?
RYAN FOX: Yeah, I felt like I played 10 through 13 really well. Missed a really good chance on 10. 11 is just a hard hole; I hit two shots in there and a nice two-putt. I flubbed the easiest chip you'll ever see on 12 and thankfully made up for it with a nice 15-footer. Kind of let one slip a little bit on 13; had to lay it up there today from the pine straw and hit a half decent wedge shot in there. But at that point I was just trying to get it in the house, and as I said, not do too much damage, and pretty happy I managed to do that.
Q. Highlight on 16. How good did that look from where you were standing?
RYAN FOX: It looked really, really good. We had a really good number. I think we had 156 meters straight down, maybe a little out of the right, and figured if I could draw a wedge and pitch it 150 it should be pretty good, and it was literally the exact shot I drew up, which was nice. I don't think I hit too many of those today. Yeah, it was good.
That sort of settled the nerves a little bit coming down the last couple of holes, too. I figured I had one more to play with, which was nice.
Q. You have the support team out there today?
RYAN FOX: Yeah, they must have seen some stuff today, to be fair. There was a couple of good up-and-downs. I think they would have been tearing their hair out. Yeah, nice to give them some weekend golf.
Q. How do you plan for the rest of the day and your thoughts about approaching tomorrow?
RYAN FOX: Rest of the day is sleeping. I didn't sleep very well last night, so I'll turn the golf on, hopefully we can dodge the storm for a little while and I'll maybe fall asleep on the couch and try to watch a little bit of golf, as well, and we'll see what happens tomorrow. The forecast looks horrific, so whether we play, whether we're delayed, I don't know. I'm just happy to be there.
Q. Obviously a whole bunch of Kiwis will be back watching the golf this weekend and will be pretty happy they'll get to watch Foxy play?
RYAN FOX: Yeah, there was certainly a little bit of that playing on my mind this week, not just at home but I know there's a lot of Kiwis that have traveled over for the week. Nice to give them someone to follow for the weekend.
