Quick Quotes
Q. You looked like you really piped some drives, hit some rally good shots out through, but a few holes got away from you. Was it a bit disappointing?
MIN WOO LEE: Yeah, it was a bit of a bag of emotions, some really good and then some bad. But, yeah, my whole life I've been trying to get away from those bogeys and doubles. But yeah, a few more birdies tomorrow and it should be okay. It's obviously tough out there. It's one of the toughest rounds I've played. I haven't -- I wasn't familiar with some of these pins because there weren't any like that last year. So it was a bit new to me and, yeah, it was a bit of good and bad.
Q. Can you talk us through 3, enormous drive there. What was going through your head after you make the 4-putt from there?
MIN WOO LEE: I just thought it was a really fast putt and the last thing you want to do is race it that far past, and I just slowed down on it and hit it -- probably it looked like probably 2 feet from on camera. So it wasn't great, and then obviously it's -- it's the Masters, it's a really quick downhill putt, and just missed a short putt. So it gets you quickly. You've got to concentrate on those ones.
Q. How do you get your mindset back after something like that, a hiccup so early in the round?
MIN WOO LEE: I mean, yeah, I guess I didn't really get over it. I went bogey, bogey afterwards. But yeah, I know, it's tough, but if you know those first six holes if you can get through square or 1-under, you're really happy. So it is one of the tougher holes and a tough stretch of golf on this course, so you just have to suck it up and go play some better golf. It is tough. It's not easy.
Q. How do you approach tomorrow? Do you have to do anything special to get some shots back?
MIN WOO LEE: Just the same thing. My approach play wasn't that good today, so I need to just get a bit better at that and just give myself more birdie opportunities. I seem to be putting pretty good, just have to get myself on the green and we'll be okay.
Q. Your sister was out there watching you. Do you guys ever talk about your golf game or a round after you're finished?
MIN WOO LEE: Yeah, I mean, we'll have lunch and then talk about it. But not really, not with my sister, more my coach.
Q. What was it like playing with Larry? Did 1987 come up in the conversation?
MIN WOO LEE: I don't think he missed a shot. It was amazing. He just hit these like straighty balls and you kind of wish you hit it like that. He didn't do anything wrong. You can see he's got like a really traditional soft-hand putting stroke and it looks amazing. He looks really comfortable over it. You can see why he won, having played here 40 years in a row, so it's pretty incredible.
Q. What was it like playing with Harrison?
MIN WOO LEE: Awesome. We were kind of, I guess, back and forth with scores, but he impressed me. First time around he didn't really miss too many shots. He's got a good head on his shoulders and he's awesome. I mean, we were fist bumping each other when we made birdies and pars. So we know it's tough out here and you want to cheer each other one.
Q. Is the goal now to make the cut?
MIN WOO LEE: Yeah, I mean, let's see what happens tomorrow. See what the weather is like and, yeah, you just got to do the right things and, I mean, not really think about it. If you play well enough you will move up the leaderboard plenty. But, yeah, it's not easy and just keep making birdies and hit big bombs.
