Q. Scottie, what a way to punctuate your preparation here at the par-3. How special was that moment?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: That was pretty fun. We were trying to make one all day. That was just, I guess, the slam dunk at the end was definitely very fun.

The guys were pretty focused watching their shots, and they didn't quite see it go in. They just heard the noise, and I was like, yeah, that went in. That was mine.

Q. That was today. Last night the champions dinner, which of course you hosted, how impactful was that for you?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Both are very special. They're two of the big reasons why I love this game. It's fun getting to come out here and just enjoy things and be with my wife and just have fun and be with some good friends.

Last night a lot of new friends, but it was definitely a good time. Everyone enjoyed the food, and it was good fellowship, and I had a great time.

Q. You anticipated it being emotional for you?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, it was pretty emotional. I got through my speech, though, which I was proud of. I trembled probably the whole time, but I got through it.

Q. You start your defense tomorrow. How do you feel?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I feel pretty good. Game's in a good spot. I liked the way I was swinging it the first couple of days here, just the practice rounds. We had some good matches, and I'm ready for the tournament to start.

Q. You saw Seamus' hole-in-one there?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I saw both of them. I heard the one there, and I saw this one.

Q. What was it like to hit one on top of his ball?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: That was pretty funny.

Q. Did you talk to him at all about it?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I just said good job and congrats. Two really fun moments for him.
