Quick Quotes
Q. Adam, it's your first time here. What was it like going out there?
ADAM SVENSSON: I actually played a couple weeks ago right after THE PLAYERS, but it's spectacular. Yeah, it's very hilly, and yeah, it's just an unbelievable golf course.
Q. As a first-time player here, what sort of things are you hoping for or planning for your time here?
ADAM SVENSSON: Like golf course-wise? Just distance control. I my work on hitting my numbers because there's so many valleys and stuff like that. Just making sure I'm playing away from flags and using the slopes and all that stuff.
Q. Is there anything helpful to you in terms of thoughts about how to get around the golf course?
ADAM SVENSSON: Just my caddie. He's caddied here five times now, so just feed off him a little bit.
Q. Who's your caddie?
ADAM SVENSSON: A.J. Montecinos.
Q. I'm curious, 13, what was your experience there?
ADAM SVENSSON: Yeah, I was trying to hit a draw there, but I'm just going to hit it straight and probably lay up to go for it. It just depends, because you're on a lie like that. Yeah, we'll just see how I'm feeling, how I'm playing and go from there.
Q. The two shots, you were trying to get it on to the green?
ADAM SVENSSON: Yeah, I was on such a hook lie, I was trying to hold it, and they both went straight. They were good shots, but yeah, I don't know, it's a risk-reward there.
Q. What were you hitting there?
ADAM SVENSSON: Hybrid.
Q. Does that kind of inform how you will approach the hole?
ADAM SVENSSON: Yeah, it's almost good to hit it in the water because then it's like you remember stuff like that, and it's like, okay, let's not do that, let's hit it a little more left.
I think it's a good thing.
Q. As far as family and friends, how are you handling that?
ADAM SVENSSON: Yeah, it's a busy week with that stuff. I'm staying with my parents, girlfriend is here, coaches, workout coaches. You've got the whole lot here.
Q. Is it sort of where your head is spinning a little bit, being in this environment for the first time?
ADAM SVENSSON: No. It was a good idea to play it a couple weeks ago because I've seen it and it's not like "wow" anymore. I've seen it, so I think that's a good thing.
Q. Where are you living now?
ADAM SVENSSON: I'm in Hobe Sound. I'm at Medalist, so I play in that area.
Q. Tell me how that move improved your golf game to where it is now and what Hobe Sound is doing for you. You're obviously here so you're doing well, right?
ADAM SVENSSON: Yeah, I went to school in Miami for a couple years and then moved up to Jupiter, Florida, and then kind of started working a little bit north towards Medalist. It's been good getting used to Bermudagrass. The PGA TOUR plays a lot on Bermuda. Just the weather getting better every day, the weather is so good.
Q. To be living around so many PGA TOUR guys, I'm sure you get a lot of opportunities to deal with some competition, so all those courses, how does that benefit your game and who are you closest with?
ADAM SVENSSON: Yeah, Aaron Wise at Medalist, you've got -- there's a bunch of guys, we have games and play. There's a couple European Tour guys there. I mean, I mostly kind of do my own thing, though. We play once in a while, but just kind of do my own thing.
Q. Why did you pick Hobe Sound and not Jupiter?
ADAM SVENSSON: I wanted to be as close as possible to Medalist.
Q. How does it feel to be representing Medalist this week?
ADAM SVENSSON: Yeah, all the guys are watching, and they're huge supporters of the players there. It's pretty cool.
