Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Patty Tavatanakit. Patty, as is stands right now, Top 3 finish here at Palos Verdes. Just overall take me through your feelings of this week.
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: A lot more confident than where I was even a week ago. To be able to close it off and post a really good round today, I was really proud of myself. I had so much scarring tissue from course. I played here in college and, you know, coming down especially the back nine it's not easy. 11, 12, 13, definitely the holes were -- I was really being patient and I think that helped a lot.
Q. After those holes you say you were patient on, to have three consecutive birdies in a row, take me through what was working well on the birdies on the back nine.
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Just executing shots and I was having good feelings with my putter on the back nine.
JESSICA KORDA: Were you also having really good feelings because you were playing with me?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Definitely. Jess helped a lot. Every time I play with her I play well.
Q. Scared me. Obviously feeling pretty well on those three birdies. How tough is this back nine and how resilient do you feel?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: After I think like 13 or 14 it was just big relief of, okay, like I got through the stretch. Let's try to go a couple more.
And I did. Just really good planning and take it shot by shot and just try to execute the best I can.
Q. We talked a little bit the other day about how it's mainly mentality for you and you worked so much on that to really help the technical part of your game. How much confidence do you have after a round like this and the last two tournaments and how proud are you of yourself and the way you have been able to work on that mental game?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Well, it all started with technical, and then Chris Mason has been helping me these past six months. I feel like I was trending in the right direction. Just a matter of time.
He helped me a lot on self-talk and just be more kind to myself. So with that, being on the course and just managing self-talk and just a little bit more positive stuff than before really helped. In line with the Vision 54 stuff with Pia and Lynn has been helping me with for the mental/performance side, where I can perform better under the state that I'm in.
So it's been really helpful. I'm really happy with everyone on my team right now, including my trainers as well.
Q. And thinking about the last six months of work that you've put into not only your mental but technical game as you just talked about, how much of a different Patty are we seeing compared to the last six, seven months?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: This is Patty 2.0 I think. Nothing can really be the same. I can't really go back to being kind of who I was because so much has happened.
And I feel like just coming back to myself a little bit more and being able to play freely and confidently is a really nice feeling.
Q. We have the off week coming up with the Masters tournament on the horizon. When will we see you next and how much does a tournament like this build that momentum into the rest of the season?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah, for sure. I feel like I still have a little bit to work on, but if anything, just maintaining what's good and just a little bit here and there what could be better, and just, you know, have fun and rest this two weeks off.
Have a four-week stretch coming up, so I'm going to make sure I rest well.
Q. Four-week stretch starting at The Chevron Championship. In the back of your mind, how much do these last two tournaments boost your confidence heading into the first major of the year?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah, I shot 23-under in two weeks, so that's really impressive and I'm really proud of myself. I'm just going to be bringing a lot of positives into the next couple weeks.
