Los Angeles, California, USA

Palos Verdes Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Perrine, a nice solid day for you, especially with those four consecutive birdies on the front nine. Just what was working so well on moving day?

PERRINE DELACOUR: The putting. I was putting pretty good. I stayed patient all day long, so that was kind of the key, especially with this weather. It was kind of windy early on and I just stayed patient.

Q. What was going on in the four consecutive birdies? Walk me through those.

PERRINE DELACOUR: I just was making a lot putts. Starting No. 3 I hit it behind the green. I made a really good up and down.

On 4 I made an awesome save.

Then the putting was just working pretty good.

I mean, No. 6 I hit -- no, No. 7 I hit the green in two and I was just making putts.

Q. I know 18, bogey there to end the day, but other than that, just overall what do you take from a day like this going into tomorrow?

PERRINE DELACOUR: I mean, it's a victory for me. I don't know if everybody knows, but I'm coming out of mental burnout last year, so it's already a victory for me to be playing golf here.

I'm kind of playing good golf, so it's already a big victory for myself. I'm just going to be patient and see what is going on tomorrow. No matter what, I'm already proud of myself beyond the golf course and enjoying playing golf.

Q. When you've out there, when you've gone through what you've gone through and what you are coming away with, when did it hit you that you're playing some great golf out there?

PERRINE DELACOUR: I kind of change a lot of my team around me. I first of all spend a lot of time at home with my family and got a lot of support from them. I work with my psychologist in France, and she's been helping me a lot.

I have a really good team around me. They're always available. Like my coach is here with me this week, which helped me a lot. And then I have my mental coach in France and she's always there, and my psychologist was there also Thursday before my tee time, so it's nice to always have a team around you even though they're in France.

Q. Because you got to make that choice, you know, to fight back after some burnout, when did you make that choice for yourself?

PERRINE DELACOUR: It was kind of my psychologist wanted me to say, well, you need to look if you still hate it or like it. So it was kind of her. She kind of tell me like I think you still like golf. It's not like you hate it. It was kind of her choice.

I also wanted to prove myself some stuff, so it was both choices.

But I know I wasn't feeling right as soon as I -- last year when the doctor told me to stop playing and I enjoyed it, like my life without golf. I was like, okay.

But I was still missing a little bit of it, so when I make the choice to come back, I was like, well, I'm coming back and I'll see. If I don't like it I'm not going to push it hard.

Q. When you're walking around and feeling comfortable in your swing and feeling comfortable in your game, are you looking at leaderboards on a day like today?

PERRINE DELACOUR: I did not look at all, because we don't care with my team about the result. We are more about the process of it. So I mean, yeah, the result is good right now, but I'm all about the process.

No matter what, I mean, all I want is to be happy. At the end of the day it's just a game of golf. Tomorrow it's a new day. Today was a good day, but tomorrow is a new day. You just have to go through.

I mean, I know a lot of girls are struggling mentally, and I wish they could tell everybody. It's hard to admit it to it, but when you admit it to it, I think it's such a relief. I know it's hard to say it, but I know for some girls looking at my interview and find themself in it, they can always contact me.

I've been in that position and it's hard to say it. It's hard to put it on social media because you don't want to say it as a pro golfer. But when you start saying it, it's part of the recovery.
