AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 1, 2023

Megha Ganne

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Hi, Megha. I think this is your first competitive round out here at Augusta. How was it to play out here in a competitive round?

MEGHA GANNE: It was better than I imagined and hoped and knew it was going to be. It was honestly a little emotional throughout the whole day because it was just so fun.

I don't know. It's just such a good environment out there.

Q. From your expectations, what was the -- are there big surprises, things that took you kind of more impressive to you?

MEGHA GANNE: I think just -- I mean, every year the number of patrons surprises me. They could have gone and done anything with their day, and they chose to be here. I think that's pretty special.

When I saw them walking in this morning at the crack of dawn, it just would not stop. It was just thousands and thousands of people. That was cool.

Q. You've been here like 7 out of the last 9 years or so, between DCP and ANWA. What does that mean to you to be here so many years in a row?

MEGHA GANNE: I don't think I really get it because I kind of take it for granted. I feel like every spring break I'm right here. But there's no place I would rather be, and it will always be a special place to me.

Q. I believe you played a hole on the par-3 yesterday.

MEGHA GANNE: Yes.

Q. How did that go?

MEGHA GANNE: I just hit the tee shot. It was the closest to competition. I did not win the closest to, but it was a lot of fun.

Q. Can you talk about your memories of DCP and how it carries to now?

MEGHA GANNE: I think DCP is genuinely the most pressure I've ever felt. I think I've played in really big tournaments, and nothing's measured up to the nerves of hitting those six shots when I was 11, 13 years old.

I just hope the kids realize what a big deal it is, and it's okay to feel the nerves.

Q. Will you be here tomorrow?

MEGHA GANNE: I won't, unfortunately. I have class starting Monday. I have to get back.

Q. Are you going to go out and cheer on any teammates that are still out there?

MEGHA GANNE: Definitely.
