Press Conference
THE MODERATOR: Everybody, welcome Sebastian Muテアoz from Torque GC. You are the clubhouse leader at 9-under. Tell us a little bit about your day.
SEBASTIAN MUテ前Z: Great day. Started with an eagle on 14. Kind of got things going. Then felt really in control of my driver, irons, putting. I felt like everything felt kind of easy today, like one of those days that things kind of go, and really comfortable and happy the way I played.
THE MODERATOR: What's your strategy going into tomorrow?
SEBASTIAN MUテ前Z: A little bit more of the same. Keep the ball in front of me and let it happen.
THE MODERATOR: Team Torque is also on the leaderboard, as well.
SEBASTIAN MUテ前Z: Yeah, they're doing good. We're one back, I think.
Q. I think you were 8-under through 11 at one point. Was 59 going through your mind at all?
SEBASTIAN MUテ前Z: Yeah, absolutely. Last year I shot 60 two times, so it's one of my goals, to get to 59 one day. I thought I hit a good shot on 7. I gave myself like a 45-footer, and I three-putted that one, and I knew that was going to kind of be the end of the 59 strategy.
Yeah, it didn't happen, but we'll keep on trying.
Q. What was going good today?
SEBASTIAN MUテ前Z: I was in the fairway. I was hitting my approaches close, to like 10 feet, 15 feet or inside that, and I was reading the putts good. I feel like out here it's tough, depending on the grain and the slope, so I gave myself good looks and I made them.
Q. During practice rounds did you feel like this course was going to be gettable this week?
SEBASTIAN MUテ前Z: No, no, to be honest. Like I played practice rounds with my boys, and we shot like 4-under best ball like on nine like one day and the other day we shot 2-under, so we weren't playing that impressive. But I'm glad that today was pretty impressive.
Q. Obviously at Mayakoba, I think you top-tenned, and then it doesn't go as well in Tucson. What was your mindset for your own game going into this week?
SEBASTIAN MUテ前Z: I talked to my Coach. I've been feeling pretty good with my game overall, driving, irons, putting. It just didn't feel as easy, felt like I needed to find one detail here, one feel here, and yesterday afternoon practicing after the pro-am I kind of felt something and I liked it, and I just kept that in mind today all day.
Q. You mentioned you stopped thinking about a 59 after the bogey. When did you start thinking a 59 was possible?
SEBASTIAN MUテ前Z: I think after -- when was that, I birdied 4, I missed 5, and then I birdied 6. I birdied the tough par-3. I made a great putt. I was like, ooh, here we go, and then it didn't happen.
Q. What is the biggest challenge that you see out of Orange County National?
SEBASTIAN MUテ前Z: You know, the mixture between like the wind and the shots. Like the wind is steady, but it shifts a little in angles, and those angles kind of make some pins a little more difficult or fairways to hit, and especially like the wind is going to be from all over different places these days, so to be able to adjust between what we're playing today and what you played yesterday.
