AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

March 30, 2023

Jenny Bae

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Jenny, another fantastic day for you. Take us through your round.

JENNY BAE: Today was the same thing as yesterday, really solid. I have to admit there was a few ups and downs, but thank God I had my caddie, also my coach. He guided me through each shot and was like, you've just got to trust it. You've had good feel the entire week, so you'll be good.

Q. Was he your caddie last year, as well?

JENNY BAE: Yeah.

Q. What's the difference? Last year missed the cut, this year in third place heading into the final round. What's been the difference for you?

JENNY BAE: I think it's mostly on me, not really the caddie, because in the end I am the one with the club and the ball in my hand. But I think he did well both years, and just I felt more comfortable with the way I was playing and the conditions I was in.

Q. How does last year's experience really benefit you this week?

JENNY BAE: Last year I really learned key lessons, and I took home a little bit of the things that I needed to work on. It kind of proved to me that I can also compete at this level, but at the same time I also need to work on the smaller things that I normally choose not to do.

Yeah, the past year I've grinded really hard, and I think it proved.

Q. When you were thinking about this week, did you envision a top-5 placement for yourself? Is this where you thought you would be? Take me through the dream scenario for you and now looking at the scoreboard.

JENNY BAE: Actually because of last year, I actually came in with no expectations. I was like, just try your best. You've played really well the entire year. You'll do well, but you just can't expect too much out of it because it just gives me more self-pressure, and I know that never goes well.

Q. Tomorrow at Augusta National ahead of the final round on Saturday. Anything specific you'll do tomorrow to get ready for that final round?

JENNY BAE: No. I think I'll just keep the same momentum and the same thing I've always worked on, just a little bit of putting tomorrow morning and have a good practice round and just tee it up.

Q. You're in the mix to win this whole thing. What does that mean to you?

JENNY BAE: It means a lot. I'm really proud of myself. I don't really say that about myself, and I really should start to. Then again, I'm just going to go in and just try every hole and just see what happens.

Q. Your coach, your caddie, what will his advice be to you ahead of that final round on Saturday?

JENNY BAE: Honestly, I think it will just be to stay patient because the greens and the conditions always are going to be hard, and it's just -- I need to trust myself, so I think he's just going to say the same thing.

Q. From Georgia, obviously go to Georgia. Any home field advantage for you heading into the weekend?

JENNY BAE: I definitely feel a bit more comfortable just because it's in my home state, but it's Augusta National, so I'll feel just the same pressure and amount of stress as any other player.
