Quick Quotes
Q. Another fantastic day for you out here. Can you take us through today's round?
ANDREA LIGNELL: Yeah, I mean, I started off, like yesterday, like I had a few birdies in the beginning, which I guess kind of calmed me down a bit and I could just keep going like I did yesterday. I didn't hit the ball as well but just kept grinding, kept hitting fairways, kept giving myself opportunities.
Q. After finishing second yesterday, today again in that second spot, any pressure for today?
ANDREA LIGNELL: I was definitely way more nervous yesterday. When I woke up this morning, I just thought to have the same mindset as yesterday, just go out there and have fun and don't put too much pressure on myself.
Q. How do you prepare for Saturday's final round, especially being in second?
ANDREA LIGNELL: Yeah, no, that's going to be crazy. I'm so excited to go there. I'm going to be nervous for sure, but I'm really excited.
Q. Anything that you're going to do specifically or are focused on tomorrow during your practice round to prep for the final round?
ANDREA LIGNELL: Yeah, I think I'm going to focus a bit extra on the greens, putting, because I've played there once before, but I've heard the greens are really tough, like some breaks that you don't even really see, so I'm definitely going to spend extra time on the greens.
Q. When you thought about this week, being in the second position, was that ever part of your thought process or preparation?
ANDREA LIGNELL: To be honest, not really. I had my goal to just make the cut, so no, definitely exceeded my expectations, so really happy.
Q. There's going to be a lot of attention on Rose on Saturday. Do you relish the role of kind of the underdog or not having all the pressure on you?
ANDREA LIGNELL: Yeah, I kind of like it because then obviously a lot of attention will be on her, and if I get to play with her, that's really cool. I've never played with her. She's such a great player. I'm just going to try and enjoy it and just have fun.
Q. How does a week like this compare to the national championship?
ANDREA LIGNELL: I would say they're pretty similar. They're really big tournaments, both of them. But I've never been to a tournament like this. Everything is well organized. We're just spoiled. We just get -- people are just so nice here. I mean, I've never been to a tournament like this. I've just been loving it so far.
Q. What allowed you to get so comfortable here? This is a course that maybe to the general golf fan, they don't know much about this golf course. They don't know Amen Corner, they don't know Augusta National. What about this golf course made you feel comfortable, allowed you to get things going?
ANDREA LIGNELL: It kind of sets up pretty well for me. A lot of the greens are kind of diagonal left to right, which kind of fits me with my draw as a lefty. It's playing a bit longer, I think, than last year, and usually like my irons are pretty long, so yeah, kind of fits me well.
Q. Did you have any friends or teammates or colleagues in college golf that gave you advice about this week or did you come in as a blank slate, to to speak?
ANDREA LIGNELL: Yeah, I had both my head coach, Kory Henkes, she was here last year and the year before, so she helped me a lot, and I played with my Swedish teammates in the practice round and they've been here before, so they've definitely helped me a lot.
Q. What do you do in between rounds to calm yourself, stay present and not get too worried about the task ahead?
ANDREA LIGNELL: I'm just trying to do other things than just talk about golf or did something related to golf. I mean, I am still in school, so I do have a lot of school, so I try to occupy myself with homework or stuff, as well.
Q. What do you like to do in your spare time aside from school?
ANDREA LIGNELL: I love going shopping. Shopping is my biggest hobby. I love it. Just hanging out with friends, going for dinner, lunch, stuff like that.
Q. Are you going to hit the merchandise shop pretty hard?
ANDREA LIGNELL: Definitely.
