Quick Quotes
Q. How do you feel about your game coming into this year?
AMARI AVERY: I feel pretty good. Excited to play. I just came off a tournament for college, so I'm excited. I think it's fun to kind of go back to back weeks, especially that it's this week, a special week.
Q. You had a good finish last year. What are your expectations for this year?
AMARI AVERY: I don't really have any. I think Champion's Retreat is a tough test and it's going to be tough and I have to battle it out can't really go off what I did last year.
I think I'm a different player, so see how it goes. I think I can pull from some good experience.
Q. Does the course seem different this year?
AMARI AVERY: It's a little wet, so be different that way. Greens are still pretty firm, but they're accessible, so I think we'll be able to score. I know there are some tee changes, so see how those go.
Q. Did you learn anything from last year you'll use this year?
AMARI AVERY: Honestly, just stay disciplined. Like I said, it's a tough course, a challenge, and every shot requires 100% focus.
So that's kind of what I learned and I'm going to keep that going.
Q. You talked about being a different golfer. How are you different than the last time you were here?
AMARI AVERY: I think I'm just a little bit more seasoned. Now I've got two more semesters under my belt from college, so I've been playing a ton of golf and a lot of different golf courses, so feel like I'm different that way.
Q. You talk about limited expectations, but what can experience at an event like this do to serve you well this week?
AMARI AVERY: I think pulling from experience is one of the best assets you can have here. Coming into last year, having that experience of just missing the cut, I think it really helped kind of get some motivation and want to go back and play better.
Now that I had a shot at it last year, makes me feel a little bit more confident in my chances here. Like I said it's going to be a tough week and see how it goes.
Q. What are the biggest challenges of this week as a whole? Two different golf courses, everything that goes with what Augusta National puts on for you women.
AMARI AVERY: Although it's only three days, it's a pretty long three days. Off the golf course as well. We have -- it's a big event and there are a lot of people out here watching, fans, sponsors. So a lot of that. Media stuff you have to deal with.
So I'm still in school, too, so I'm not on spring break anymore, so there is that off the golf course as well. Just trying to manage my time.
