Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Nelly Korda. Solid day out there. Few birdies in a row on your front nine. Couple more birdies on the -- yeah, I'm getting that all messed up.
NELLY KORDA: Same amount of birdies on both nines.
Q. Really solid day. Walk me through the round and what was going so well.
NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I actually was putting and hitting it a little closer. I wasn't driving it as well as I was yesterday, and then just made two silly errors on par-3s where I kind of overdrew one of my clubs and left another one out right and hit two iffy bunkers shots.
Overall, it was a pretty solid day.
Q. A lot of sets of consecutive birdies. What was working so well in those stretches?
NELLY KORDA: Well, they were short holes so I could use my length to my advantage. Hit some solid wedge shots in. Pretty sure my first bounceback was a reachable par-5.
Then it was a short par-4 after.
Yeah, they're just shorter holes so I can take advantage of it.
Q. 18, tons of birdies out there already this week. Does that hole feel like you got to birdie it or does par feel like you're losing a stroke in a way?
NELLY KORDA: I feel like you need to take advantage of all the par-5s out here. The par-3s are definitely tougher holes where you have longer clubs in, but, yeah, I think whenever you par a par-5 you definitely lose one on the field because they're all pretty reachable.
Q. When you're on the tee box this weekend is there a little extra like better birdie this hole or else kind of feeling?
NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I mean, definitely. It's nice to finish on a reachable par-5. You still have to hit a good drive. You have water down your left. But if they tuck the pin on the left behind the bunkers it's a little harder. It's all about positioning on that hole.
Q. How is the course different for you today than yesterday?
NELLY KORDA: Well, I played in colder weather today but fresher greens. Towards the end in the afternoon you could definitely tell the greens were really bumpy.
They were rolling solid this morning.
Q. I saw that interaction you had, the girl that recreated your Golf Magazine cover. Just to see her, I'm not sure if you've met before.
NELLY KORDA: No, this is the first time. It was cute tell. We connected via social media and I sent her a couple things last year when I saw that post.
It's really cool to see fans do that. To see that, you know, someone looks up to me, is really special.
