Media Day Press Conference
Q. How many (indiscernible)?
JAREN JACKSON JR: Listen, I had two today. I had two yesterday. What day is today, Saturday? That's four so far. It's really five because I landed with one and changed twice. So it's five. I've got another one tonight, and then I've got another one later tonight, and then I've got game day tomorrow and then maybe I'll squeeze in another one just for fun. My whole room is a closet.
Q. (On reportedly being a new vice president of the National Basketball Players Association.)
JAREN JACKSON JR: Stevo nominated me. I had to give a little speech impromptu. I told him how we felt about how we can connect to youth. I've seen a lot of things being in the league. I've seen a lot of vets come through. I think I know what the youth is thinking, and getting them to meetings. I ain't going to bore you all. But that was huge. My mama (Terri Jackson, executive director of the Women's National Basketball Players Association) was in there. She was in back because she had to work. She's actually right there. Wow. All right. But that was huge, and now they announced it. I didn't even know they did, so now y'all know. Been a thing I've wanted for a long time, and yeah, I've just got to -- me and Donovan Mitchell at the same time.
Q. How does it feel to be here at the All-Star?
JAREN JACKSON JR: I mean, the most important thing about this whole thing is bringing your people out and bringing your family out and stuff like this so you've got the memories. I've got all my boys here and we're just moving. Then my mom, my dad. It's great. It's something you really can't put into words for real, but the main thing is just having your family around you and your people that you love.
