Quick Quotes
Q. Very well done first two rounds here in Saudi. Obviously played in completely opposite conditions. How did you find the first two days?
CARA GAINER: Yeah, I really enjoyed it. Played really well yesterday considering the conditions. We had sort of the gusting 25, 30 mile an hour winds pretty much the whole round because we were off last.
So it was really tough yesterday. I'm glad I got a good round to sort of begin the tournament, and then, yeah, backed it up really nicely today. Putted really well today. Didn't quite strike it as good as yesterday, but it is what it is. That's golf, isn't it? Yeah, I'm really pleased.
Q. Talk me through some of the putts that you had out there today.
CARA GAINER: Yeah, to be honest, it was just really solid from like six feet and in. So if I missed the green, I made a chip to sort of the five feet, was always sort of holing them, so really important momentum savers when you make par.
So it was more about that. And I holed a couple -- maybe two 15, 20 foot putts as well, which is always nice.
Q. Would you say the putting was the part of your game that was working the most, or was it kind of a little bit of everything?
CARA GAINER: I mean, I think it was a little bit of everything. I was putting myself in good positions off the tee. Also obviously hitting it reasonably close to be able to make six birdies I think it was.
Yeah, but I was just converting them with the putts, which was most important.
Q. Obviously spoke to you in Kenya as well. Good start to the year. Finished well last year. What have you been doing to keep the momentum going?
CARA GAINER: To be honest, I've just been trying to take it patient, like one shot at a time, not trying to get ahead of myself.
Kenya was a great start. Then I had a bit of travel problems in Morocco, so sort of put that week behind me really. I knew I was playing well this week and I like to step up at these big events.
It's just amazing to be playing with such incredible players, really world class field other than a major. Yeah, just really pleased after two days.
Q. And the fact that you've played here few times before, is that helping you in terms of the conditions? Obviously not everyone has played here before; not everyone has played three events this season. Couple things helping you out?
CARA GAINER: Yeah, definitely. The reason I played Kenya was because I wanted to get a couple tournaments under my belt before this one. Obviously this is a big event. Yeah, I think also having played the course so many times with the wind, you know, even putts on the greens, I think they're very tricky to read these greens.
So having had obviously many putts, yeah, few of them are going in for me.
