Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Press Conference
S. TSITSIPAS/J. Sinner
6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3
THE MODERATOR: Tough luck, Jannik. Can you analyze the final set. You seemed to have the momentum after winning the third and the fourth.
JANNIK SINNER: Yeah, just a couple of misses, easy misses, and the match has changed quite fast. Then after, he was serving well. That's it.
But, yeah, tough again. I don't know. Don't have words right now because I just went off court. Yeah, that's it.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Would you say fatigue was a factor at all?
JANNIK SINNER: No, there was no fatigue.
Q. What did he do, if anything, particularly well when you had break chances?
JANNIK SINNER: I guess he served well. I made a couple of backhand misses. I think I've made the right choices anyway. Just missed the shot.
I guess I can still work on that. But, yeah, I think he served well and, yeah, was just close match.
Q. It's right after this match. If it's hard to answer this, I certainly understand. Does it feel to you like you're incredibly close? The scores are incredibly close, some of these big matches at Grand Slam tournaments. Does it feel coming out of that match that you're really close to taking the next steps?
JANNIK SINNER: I guess we saw today it was close, no? Also the score says it.
As I said, a couple of misses. Also first and second set, I think I made the right choices. It's tough right now, for sure. Yeah, it's a tough loss for sure.
Yeah, I guess for sure I have to go back, practice again. But these kind of matches, it can go in one way and the other way. I had the momentum. I messed it up a little bit. I was serving good. The fifth set not so much. The momentum has changed a little bit.
