Quick Quotes
THE MODERATOR: Here with Gemma Dryburgh. Another solid day, 2-under. I know it wasn't as low as yesterday, but still really solid in these conditions. Just evaluate your round.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, like you said, very solid again. Got off to a steady start, and then had those three birdies in a row, and then, unfortunately, bogeyed the 9th. Yeah, still very solid. Didn't hit it quite as well today, I would say, but I still putted pretty well. I left a few out there as well.
THE MODERATOR: What did you learn yesterday that really helped you kind of grind out a score today?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: I think the start is you have to kind of just get through it because it's, like, right into the teeth of the wind, so they're quite tricky holes. If you get through there, there's always chances coming up, I would say.
THE MODERATOR: I think I asked you this yesterday, but how do you switch your brain playing into the wind and then downwind and then back into the wind on the front and the back here?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, it's a little bit different mindset. You just have to -- when you are playing into the wind, you don't want to swing too hard. You kind of want to swing it easy. Like they say, swing it easy when it's breezy.
Then downwind you have to land it short. You kind of have to -- if the pin is at the front, it helps just landing it short, just short of the green, I would say. Kind of on that last hole just land it a little bit too far, but yeah, it's manageable out there. The greens aren't too, too firm, so when it's downwind, you can still get it close as well.
THE MODERATOR: Being a Scott, what's your shot shape? What's your trajectory like? Are you a low ball hitter, high ball hitter? And do you make adjustments on the course when it's like this?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: I would say in general I'm probably a little bit lower, so that's why it probably helps into the wind.
Sometimes downwind -- if I'm hitting my hybrids, they go nice and high, so that's quite nice. But I struggle with my hybrids a little bit into the wind because they go high, so I have to work on that shot and put it back in the stance and work on lowering that flight.
Apart from that it's a pretty good ball flight for the wind.
THE MODERATOR: Lydia is going nuts out there, but still squarely in the mix with two days left here. Just kind of evaluate that effort. To be a person here for the first time and this golf course, there's a lot of nuance to it, how proud are you of that effort?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, really proud. Like you said, Lydia is going after it, but you never know. And I'll do my best over the weekend, and anywhere around the kind of top ten would be a huge win for me.
