Quick Quotes
Q. That must go down as another good day's work in the desert heat, I would suggest?
MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, definitely. Really, really pleased with the way I played again. And yeah, scored really well, too. It was a good day.
Q. How are you feeling out there in the conditions?
MATT FITZPATRICK: Hot. Very hot. I decided to get my dark outfit out of the way on the second day on my later tee time, so that was smart.
But yeah, I feel better than I did yesterday. Just not quite sleeping as well as I would like but yeah my game feels in good shape.
Q. And you've set yourself up over these first two days for what could be a very exciting weekend.
MATT FITZPATRICK: Definitely. Just got to keep pushing on. Yeah, just keep playing how I feel like I'm playing right now. I feel really comfortable with where my game is at, particularly after three weeks off and looking forward to the weekend.
Q. Starting the day tied for the lead at 7-under and ended the day tied for the lead at 12-under. Give us your thoughts on that?
MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, really pleased. Another good, solid score around here. Felt comfortable the way I was hitting it and felt like I drove it a bit better today and try to keep doing more of the same over the weekend.
Q. Talking to your putting coach, Phil Kenyon, he's telling us about a new technology you're using, a better technology putt view. Can you tell us what it does for you and how much it's helped you?
MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, I've not had it delivered yet so I've only had a little practice run on his. Yeah, it's interesting. It's an amazing piece of technology. Basically gives you the answers to all putts. It is basically cheating but obviously not legal for tournaments. Hopefully help me develop my green reading as a skill and I'll use it mainly in practice.
Q. Is it a mask or headset you wear?
MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, it's VR, virtual reality, so put it on and try to tell it where the ball is, tell it where the hole is, and it literally gives you the line, gives you contour lines, gives you all sort of information. Yes, it's going to be really interesting to use in practice.
Q. You came into week with a dual agenda: To win The DP World Tour Championship and also potentially the DP World Tour rankings. How excited that both are still on the line?
MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, I knew The Race to Dubai was in the back of my mind. To be honest it wasn't something I was really thinking about. My focus was just trying to win the event this week.
Like I say, I feel like I've put two good rounds to start with and put myself in position and do more of the same and see where it gets me on Sunday.
