Quick Quotes
Q. Helen, early morning call for you. Good news that you've been brought into the competition and all worthwhile. Tell me about what happened and then what happened out there today.
HELEN TAMY KREUZER: Yeah, I was first reserve this week and I wasn't sure if I was going to get into the field, and then last night, I got a little heads up that somebody meeting pulling out and at 5.00 in the morning they texted me and said you're in the field, 7.14 on the tee. Obviously I'm happy to be playing. Obviously you never want to pull out of a tournament.
Q. Well played individually. Low wind today and as a team you made most of it and also individually. Tell me about it out there.
LINA BELMATI: Yeah, it was a nice round out there. We made a lot of birdies and a lot of eagles. Looking forward to tomorrow.
Q. A good day for you, tied for the lead in the individual standings, very early days but nevertheless a round for 5-under. Talking to Deanna Luna, she works with you off the course and she says you have a lot of talent and just need to produce. Tell me about it.
VIRGINIA ELENA CARTA: Yeah, it's much easier to play well when you have a good team and when you are able to enjoy yourself out there. Happy that we are doing well as a team as well and happy to be here.
Q. And the amateur, your father was on the bag, lots of local support from him and you really contributed to the team as well. I know you haven't been playing golf for very long. Tell me about your story and how you got to teeing off here today.
AMATEUR: I started golf three years ago in COVID. Never saw myself standing here in three years honestly. I still need to learn to take my team. It's a lot of hard work. I'm happy to see it pay off. I'm very privileged to be here. I have one of the best rounds of my life so far. It was the best team anyone can ask for, and we were having fun but today we focused, playing well and I'm very lucky to say I'm standing with the team that's in the lead.
Q. At least 11 holes that you contributed a score. Were you nervous at all? You don't seem nervous?
AMATEUR: No. Funny enough, no, but usually I am nervous when I am playing with professionals. But I saw the smile on the first tee and the energy, that we're in it to win it. But you know what, I have to be me. I have to show them that I really want it as well. I really enjoyed it out there and felt very comfortable. They are very humble people and fun to play with.
