THE MODERATOR: We'll get started with Trey Mancini.
Q. Given your journey and what you've been through, how does the Stand Up To Cancer tonight and how it relates to you and what you've been through?
TREY MANCINI: Yeah, it's an incredible testament to everybody going through cancer or who has been diagnosed with cancer and has gone through it before, seeing at the All-Star Game every year and have been watching it in the World Series the last few years too. So it's really powerful and it's an amazing thing that MLB does and helps raise a lot of money too. So it's incredible.
Q. You've been very open through this process. If it helps one individual or more, what does that mean to you?
TREY MANCINI: It's everything. That's why you do it at the end of the day is to, obviously you want to perform and do great, but also while you're doing that, you want to impact lives and impact people. So for the MLB to do this, I would say assuredly it has a huge impact on people and hopefully does save some lives, because I think it does.
Q. Last year at the All-Star Game a couple players put your name on the placard, Cedric Mullins, Vlad Jr. What did that mean to you and how did you react when you saw it?
TREY MANCINI: So I was on the flight back from, because I competed in the home run Derby the day before, so I was on the flight back and saw that. I was overcome with a wave of emotion when I saw that. Cedric, obviously we're really close and good friends and teammates, and for Vlad to do it as well, somebody that I've been playing against for a few years and had a very high respect for, I just thought it was an incredible gesture and it really meant a lot to me. It was a really cool thing to see.
Q. Do you know who you will write on your card tonight and can you kind of give us tell us about that person?
TREY MANCINI: Yeah. Yeah, I do. Unfortunately, my Low-A manager, his name is Ryan Minor, he played for the Orioles, whenever he played, he actually was the one who played shortstop when Cal Ripken ended his streak. He was my Low-A manager in Delmarva, and he was unfortunately just diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer, same kind of cancer I had.
And I spoke to him, I texted him a couple days ago, and he got back to me, so I've been talking to him and just wanted to let him know I was thinking about him, and I know what he's going through. So I'm going to write his name on my card tonight.
Q. We all appreciate your story and the inspiration that you provide with what you've gone through and what you've become. On the field, in the situation that you're in tonight, what adjustments do you and your lineup have to make against Nola?
TREY MANCINI: Yeah, that's a really good team over there. They're playing really well. You just have to wash the day before and not let that come into the next day. This team has so much experience with doing that and it's a team that's really well equipped to do that. So forget yesterday, come in with a game plan and stick to it.
Q. With Dusty having had cancer as well have you guys ever discussed those experiences?
TREY MANCINI: Yeah, we have. On a couple of occasions. Whenever I got traded I remember we talked about it. And then kind of at some point in September I had talked to him too. And we just kind of related with some on the field struggles that I've had. He and I would talk about it a little bit of trying to put yourself back in that place and remembering that feeling. Because nothing compares to that. So trying to put things in perspective it can help. So we've definitely talked about it a couple times.
