Trophy Presentation and Podium Ceremony
JASON ZONE FISHER: Welcome to the LIV Golf team championship Miami trophy presentation and podium ceremony. The LIV Golf team championship and the inaugural season of LIV Golf is now officially in the record books.
What a historic year and an amazing tournament this has been. Miami, you have come out in full force. You showed up. Give yourselves a round of applause. Look at this!
Thank you for making the team championships the perfect way to bring our season to a close. This tournament has embodied the energy, the spirit and the momentum that we have seen over these past six months.
We are here today to honor the individuals and the teams who have performed and achieved greatness in the inaugural year of LIV Golf. We'll not only be honoring our team champions but also our top individuals this season.
But first, I want to acknowledge some of our fantastic partners who made this entire week possible. First, our friends, members and staff of the Trump National Doral, especially the director of agronomy Tim Williams and the superintendent of Blue Monster, Steven Kelly. Let's also give a big round of applause and thanks to all of the volunteers for helping us host such a phenomenal golf tournament.
We also want to thank you, the fans here at Doral, for welcoming us with open arms, and of course, last but certainly not least, the players who have been pioneers in the sport and have transformed the game of golf. Let's give them a round of applause. They've put on a show for you all week long.
I'd also like to recognize the gentlemen who are standing here on this stage right now. First, the managing director of LIV Golf, Majed Al Sorour. We have representing Trump Doral, Eric Trump. Last but not least, Miami, make some noise for the CEO and commissioner of LIV Golf, Greg Norman.
Before we introduce our team finalists and champion, we have to recognize our top three individual finishers for the entire 2022 season. These three players all started in London about five months ago, and they should be very proud of their accomplishments during this inaugural year of LIV Golf. They have played phenomenal, and it's time for them to be recognized.
Finishing the season in third place with three top-5 finishes, accompanied by his caddie, Zach Guthrie, please welcome from Smash GC, Peter Uihlein. Finishing in second place, with one win in Portland and five top-20 finishes, with his caddie Clifford Botha, please welcome from Stinger GC, Branden Grace.
Now introducing the first ever LIV Golf Invitational season champion, with a win in Boston and six top-10 finishes, with his caddie and brother Austin Johnson, winning $16 million, please welcome our season champion from Four Aces GC, give it up for DJ, Dustin Johnson.
DJ, congratulations, man. When you look out at this and see where this has come in the last five, six months, how do you describe this moment, how you feel, not just your accomplishments but everything that LIV Golf has been able to accomplish in such a short period of time?
DUSTIN JOHNSON: It's been amazing. Obviously the fans is what makes it. This week has been incredible. The whole season has just gotten better and better, and then obviously the finale has been unbelievable.
JASON ZONE FISHER: You've been in the zone. You've been playing great golf. What kind of energy have you fed off of from this crowd? How has it helped you out there on the course?
DUSTIN JOHNSON: Yeah, for sure. I got a lot of support out there. The fans have been amazing. Obviously coming down the stretch here, you couldn't draw it up any better with me and Cam battling it out to win the team championship.
JASON ZONE FISHER: It was pretty amazing. Congratulations one more time to your champion Dustin Johnson and your top three finishers. Congratulations on your incredible finish this year, our top three finishers right there. Let's give them one more big round of applause.
