ANNIE PARK: Really nice to make new friends and play some good golf.

Q. Speaking of the amateur, he played very well, made the eagle putt.

ANNIE PARK: He didn't know, but he happened to make a great birdie and it was a really good shot, really good putt, and I was like, wait, that's an eagle. I'm like, "You know you got an eagle on that hole."

He's like, "What?" He was really happy about that. He made a great birdie on the last hole. I can't believe this is his first golf tournament and he's been playing for six years. I mean, honestly he's a really good player. I don't know what he's talking about, but it did not seem like that.

Q. The sport mentality, do you think that really helped?

ANNIE PARK: Some of the shots that he hit, you can definitely tell he's an athlete. Very athletic and he made some great putts under pressure. He was solid out there.

Q. What's it like playing, a New Yorker in your home city?

ANNIE PARK: A lot of nostalgia. I grew up Long Island. I didn't really get to play much close to the city, but my family is still here and my sister lives in the City and I have a sister that lives in Flushing, so right around here. It's always great to see them when I'm here and to play a tournament in New York is always great. I definitely feel like we should play a lot more tournaments in the northeast and New York would be great specifically.

But there are so many great golf courses in New York, and this is definitely one of them. This is my first time playing at this golf course, and you know, I felt like I was in Scotland today with the golf course and the weather, but you know, it was playing great out there.

Q. Finally for me, playing this kind of format, how nice is it to play as an individual and also play as a team? There's something going on on every hole.

ANNIE PARK: You know, this is such an individual sport, and to have a little bit a team aspect into it, I think it's fantastic. There's a lot on the line which is individual and team.

So you kind of like have a lot going out there but honestly, you know, I'm rooting for my team there, even though we are three individuals playing in one team. I'm rooting for birdies out there. I feel great when they are playing great. I feel for them when I'm struggling, too. So you know, it's great.
