Quick Quotes

Q. Matthew, really great week for you. Just talk a little bit about the week as a whole and then how much fun this has been for you this week and also today's final round.

MATTHEW NeSMITH: Yeah, I played some good golf. I was really patient for four days. I got frustrated really early on the front nine on Thursday and was able to kind of settle down and play some good golf for the rest of the week. That was kind of what I was going with all week was just to try and be as patient as I possibly could and see where things end up on Sunday.

Q. Max Homa on Tuesday described Tom as a rock star. Now that you got to play 18 holes with him, how would you describe Tom and his game?

MATTHEW NeSMITH: Yeah, I mean, I played some golf with him on Saturday in Minnesota earlier this year. We got paired together. It's the second time we've played together. He's great, man. He's really lively. He's super polite. He likes to have fun out there. He's a dang good golfer, too.

I'm sure we'll see many more of these as his career gets going. But he's a great dude. I really enjoy being around him.

Q. Really good finish for you. This is good momentum going into the rest of the fall season. How much are you going to play?

MATTHEW NeSMITH: Yeah, I generally play a good bit, but I don't know, now we'll see what happens. I'm going to go to Japan tonight and see how that works out, and then we'll come back. We'll probably reevaluate here in a couple weeks. I'm really happy where things are at, and we're just going to keep going.

Q. Last time you were in contention I remember you talking about the mental part of the game you were talking about. Seemed like you were in control and having a great time out there today. Talk about your progress from the mental side of the game.

MATTHEW NeSMITH: Man, as much as it was apparent in Valspar a few months back, it was just as apparent today. It's the same thing that I've been working on for eight, nine months now. Just being patient. This is just a bookmark for the next week. I know the tournament ends, but we still tee it up on Thursday in Japan, and the last putt I hit today is just a bookmark for the next week.

They all mean something at the end of the day. There's no reason to get worked up over certain kind of putts and shots and things like that. Yeah, you still get nervous, but I'm working on it. It's hard, but I'm working on it.
